Cor, guv, haven’t y’heard about the Scott Newcastle Poles? Well, they’re right fit, see? Scott used their S4 aluminium, yeah the very same as what’s in their race series poles. The grips are the Notch Strike dual-density rubber, sure enough. The graphics, well…that’s the Newcastle flag. Of course.

Bottom Line: Blimey.

Durable and Cool

Super durable and looks cool as well. Not crazy about the leather straps. In cold weather they freeze up and are hard to form around your hand. The strap also comes undone, it helps to duct tape it.

Nice pole, got it relatively cheap on tramdock; but I'm not a fan of the leather straps. They'd work ok if they were less thick, and didn't have the metal (!) buckles ... going to have to see if I can replace the leather straps with something that's less bulk/annoying.

I have a slightly older version that is bright green and I love them. Grips are good and I like the leather wrist strap. They are responsive and plant well. So far they have been durable, I've landed on them plenty of times and no bending. No complaints.

I prefer the team issue, a kid i ski with has these. The pole construction is the same, only difference is the graphics, straps, and the baskets may be a little bigger. You cant go wrong with ether one, scott makes the best poles in the world.

Great Poles, Brutal Baskets

By:
February 14, 2010

The quality of the pole & grip are excellent. I would never consider skiing with anything but Scott S4 aluminum. I purchased these because they were on sale & because they had much bigger baskets for deep snow than the Scott S4 racing poles . Coincidentally, the baskets are the major downside to these poles. After 30 days of normal use, both ripped off completely. They were still worth the price for the S4 shafts, but you'll definitely need a backup set of baskets in the near future.

Review Title

After years of skiing and racing, I've learned that I won't use any other poles than Scott's poles. S4(Series 4) aluminum is one of the lightest, most durable material used in any pole today. Their grips feel great in your hand and don't ever cause any fatigue no matter how much traversing you do. The newcastle pole features everything I love about Scott poles, plus a sick graphic, and really steezey white leather wrist straps. Anyone skiing lots of powder needs this pole. the powder baskets are absolutely massive and do a great job preventing you pole from poking all the way down to the base on those deep pow days. This pole is great, and highly recommended.

Speed Racer

Picked up these poles after snapping a pair of the Scott Tartan's and I'm glad I did because they're a lot sturdier. The grip (like all Scotts nowadays) is comfortable and... grippy making for smooth plants. I'm a fan of the wrist straps too. The other review says they freeze easily, which is true - but I like that. I wear my straps pretty loose and like how they freeze in the shape of my wrist - I've never had the strap freeze together so I can't use it. And, even when it freezes you can still form them around your wrist. I rode with them ~20 days this season and didn't have them come undone once. Overall they're sturdy, reliable poles. I would definitely recommend them if you can get over the silly racing flag-esque design.
