The backcountry places certain demands on a pair of ski poles; they need to be efficient on the ascent and reliable on the descent. The Scott Cascade Two-Part Adjustable Ski Poles can check the box on both with a design optimized for backcountry travel. Being able to adjust the length of your ski poles is nice when you're traversing, but how often do you actually do it when you're racing to your line? The extended grip lets you quickly choke up on your uphill pole to give you a more balanced feel, so you don't have to waste time fiddling with the locking mechanism. When you do have more time to adjust the poles—or just need a reason to rest when you're wallowing up a powder-filled couloir—the adjustable length lets you shorten the length so your arms aren't at eye-level as you boot up your line. Once it's time to ski, the stout aluminum construction and Duraflex carbide tip remain rigid as you slash big pow turns or make slow and controlled hop turns down a steep face.
