The PowerFrame and PowerWrap designs provide race-boot performance and touring-boot comfort by cradling the foot and lower leg comfortably and closely for remarkable leverage with ideal power transfer. The PowerFrame's seamless overlap means there are no riveted-on pieces that create gaps and energy dissipation, and its pre-punched form accurately follows your foot's anatomy to accommodate any bunions and bone spurs. As a result, you have a shell that provides superb lateral and torsional rigidity with a solid, progressive forward flex. The shell also rotates naturally out of the way when you're touring in walk mode. The PowerWrap design eliminates the restrictive tongue to allow more independent movement between the cuff and lower shell, which means better walking, climbing, and skinning, and a progressive downhill flex. The roomy toe box, wide forefoot, narrow heel, and 103mm width accommodate a wider foot.
To ensure the most damp, solid alpine boot feel, the Asylum features multi-injected construction using selected technical polymers like PU and Pebax. This construction ensures incredible lateral leverage without inhibiting the shell's forward flex, and it also provides a stiff frame for maximum lateral and rearward support. Water Dam and Water Seal technology work together to better conform the shell's opening and provide a superb seal against snow.
For stellar comfort, Asylum uses an EZ Fit Women's liner that's 100% thermoformable for those who prefer a custom fit. The full lining eliminates seams and hard spots and has a reinforced tongue with Scott's T-Bar reinforcement for shin protection and power. This light liner is built specifically to fit a woman's unique foot and calf shape. Four magnesium FR buckles are low-profile, light, easy to operate with gloves, and feature EZ Lock Catches that keep the buckle in place when you hike. An adjustable spoiler provides lower-leg fit and additional forward lean adjustment while a solid Power Strap helps prevent shin bang.
Equipped with an Easy³ Magnesium
Ski/Walk mechanism, the Asylum
has three forward lean positions that
quickly and precisely adjust with one hex bolt. Use the glove-friendly asymmetric lever to switch in and out of walk or
ski mode. To further enhance your freeriding experience, the Asylum's Touring Norm (TN) Sole Set features a Vibram outsole
specifically formulated for cold-weather grip and durability and for
torsional support during hard edging. When you want to switch to the Alpine Sole Set (sold separately), the soles can be changed in a flash and snapped securely into
place with only three hex bolts per boot. The TN sole set is only compatible with ISO Touring (UNI) or TECH bindings.
