    Old size, new tread.

Schwalbe's Nobby Nic Tire is a perennial favorite, and for good reason. Its versatile tread makes it keen to tackle a wide variety of terrain types, and now the newest Nic is making it even better, even for the 26-inch mountain bike wheel.

For the third generation, Nic's proven, all-condition tread pattern gets mildly revised, with new slits in the blocks along the center and shoulders. The pattern is equal parts fast-rolling and earth-grabbing, comfortable on varsity-level technical terrain but ready to race on a more hardpacked course, as well. Also new this year, Nic's tubeless-readiness has changed names, from TL to TL Easy, emphasizing what Schwalbe wants its customers to know it's one of the easiest tires to install and set up tubeless. The tough SnakeSkin carcass returns, but this year it's also joined by an even tougher Double Defense casing version, armoring you against punctures like no Schwalbe ever has before.

    Delivery problems

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

They roll fast and grip well, both front and back. I've enclosed a picture of the Trailstar tread after about 450 miles of riding in northern Utah for reference. These are the 27.5, but I bought some for a 26 as well. The tread wear is pretty good, especially compared to pre-2015 models.
When you order, I'd advise to avoid "Ontrac" delivery. They are not reliable. Use UPS. My package showed delivered....but I have no idea where it might be!

    Major gash on third use

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Sticky tires and good tread, but bummed I got a major gash in them only after the third use. I put a tube in my tubeless, holding up for now. I know trails are rocky around Park City, but I am pretty easy on my gear and ride the trail where the gash occurred all the time. Have never had a tire last such a short time.
