A rounded toe box and padded tongue make the Scarpa Veloce Rock Climbing Shoes an excellent choice for beginning climbers who prefer comfort over a painfully tight fit. In addition to their cozy fit, these Italian-made Scarpa shoes have VELCRO®-Brand closures to make them quick and easy to put on and take off. The Veloce Climbing Shoes have a stiff edging platform to help you improve your footwork, and they're equally suited to indoor or outdoor rock climbing.

Bottom Line: Treat your feet to the comfortable Scarpa Veloce Shoes when you decide to start rock climbing.

Great Shoes

These shoes are exactly like they are described. Perfect for someone just getting into climbing or someone that climbs occasionally. That said, they are of excellent, typical Scarpa construction and are very comfortable. I have been very satisfied with these.

great beginner shoe

these are a great beginner shoe. the rubber is super sticky and they are very comfortable. not for very aggressive climbing, the heel is very flimsy and not built for tough heel hooks. i think they run a half size to big. but overall a really good shoe for someone new to the sport.

I have a real wide foot and usually wear a 9.5 street shoe. I have some Scarpa trail runners that are 42.5 and fit perfectly. How does that translate to a climbing shoe like this one, should I size down to a 42 or 41.5? Or stick with a 42.5?

Good shoes.

These shoes are awesome. I've used them a few times since I've had them; primarily bouldering and they've been great. The two pull straps on the back make them a flash to get on. the velro is super easy to get a good fit and awesome for bouldering when you're constantly taking them off and moving to new problems. I have a medium-wide foot and wear a 8.5 or 9 in regular shoes, and opted for the 40 in this shoe. It's a pretty good fit.

Great for Beginner Like Me

By:
March 13, 2009

I'm just getting into climbing. I have a very wide foot, and countless efforts of cramming my feet into shoes that seemed two sizes to small almost made me walk away from the sport...until I bought these. They run wide, so my feet are still cramped, but comfortable nonetheless. Rubber is super sticky for smearing and the velcro fastens in opposite directions to make them super tight in just the right spots. Look great too! They saved my interest in climbing and now I can't get off the wall.

I was just looking for shoes and thought the exact same thing. Why can't I just search the shoes that are my size rather than looking at all of the shoes and then really liking a pair and it not being available in my size. It would be nice if they had a search feature that allowed you to search by size.

cuts me deep man, cuts me real deep

Very comfortable shoe, except for the tongue and back cutting into my ankle a bit. It got better after a little use, but still bugs me after a long day of climbing. I've only been indoors with these shoes and they have great grip and work pretty well overall.

Scarpa Veloce

Great shoe. The stiffness makes the good to learn proper foot work. The vibram sole is very sticky which gives a needed confidence boost when attempting tough problems. The sizing was a spot on. I wear a 9 street shoe and have the 41.5 after being a little tight a first, they did stretch out a little bit to fit like a glove.

Not for hard climbing.

By:
September 18, 2008

My girlfriend bought me these shoes so that I would have something comfortable to wear on those days spent with her doing easy/moderate climbing. While they are, in fact, quite comfy, I find their performance characteristics to be really lackluster. I can't edge at all in these shoes and they give me no feel for the rock. I've often thought that the problem had to be my own and that the shoe couldn't be that bad, but as soon as I throw on my Vision V or Booster's (both scarpa) the world's seems a different place. These shoes are only suitable for people who desire comfort mainly, and will not be climbing into the 5.10's any time soon. Otherwise, there are plenty of more sensible options (e.g. Scarpa Vision V or any good technical trad shoe).
