The Scarpa T1 Telemark Boot has become legendary for its durability, performance and perfect big mountain pow-rippin' stiffness. This is where it all began. As the first-ever plastic boot, the Scarpa T1 has evolved to become THE boot for those who want a powerful yet light tool for backcountry and inbounds steeps. The T1 has proved itself worldwide, and as locally as Alta, Crested Butte, and Alpine Meadows. A bit softer than the T-Race, the T1 provides skiers with comfort and flexibility needed for hardcore hiking—and pumps up the volume on the downhill. This year you'll find the T1 fits even better with new Easy Lock buckles, for gloved hand quick adjustments. The new Dual Density liner eradicates all thoughts of a pricey after-market addition. An overlap closure kills dead space, and the asymmetrical bellows allow for a natural, comfortable flex. If in-area charging or serious backcountry steeps are your game, you need the performance, comfort and downhill stability of the T1.
Bottom Line: THE choice for serious backcountry and big mountain teleskiers.
These boots are supposed to be heat formed. However, I found after a couple of days of spring skiing, they fit as great as an alpine boot...yes, that is a good thing! There's a reason why this is such a popular boot.
The T1 is an awesome boot. This is the most comfortable ski boot I have owned. They are powerful and feel like bedroom slippers. No other boot has fit like this. These are my first telemark boots.
I ski the Work Stinx from K2 and let me tell you of the perfect marriage it has with the T1 Boot. This boot drives the ski perfectly and removes any lateral shakiness from a lower boot. I recommend this combo across the board.

Now that I've had a chance to ski the boots about 20 days, I can report that the T1s with thermo liners rock. I previously had T1s with regular liners. The fit with thermo liners is excellent, and I still love the smooth bellow flex of Scarpa boots. One negative: I don't understand why Scarpa increased the width of the shell heel. It's a pain to get the G3 binding cables past the heel (old T1s have a much narrower shell heel). Molding thermo liners, remember you need to heat and mold the thermo liners to your feet. Scarpa told me I shouldn't do it myself.
Changed up to these when my T2s started to get packed out and annoying. These boots rock. At first my skis felt twitchy and strange underneath me, but after a couple runs to get the feel I was sold. The control in these boots is so far beyond the T2 it's not even in the same ballpark. The T2s were great, but their translation of energy to ski control was sort of stately (not sloppy, but kind of a slower reaction) the T1s make the ski respond to thought. It's that good. That might be bad for a beginner, but if you've got reasonable technique the T1s up the ante. They also sport a lot of thoughtful features like the hiking bar on the top buckle, a canting adjustment, and a much better walk function than the T2s'. If you're serious about tele you need to get some T1s.
Can you say Alpine ski boot? Because thats what the T1 feels like to me. Im sure youve heard it before, but this is a BURLY boot. My first powder runs in this boot were amazing. I could haul ass through the powder tele or alpine style and feel totally strong (stronger than on my Garmont Veloces). The first time I skied these boots, I was on a Rossi Bandit XX and a Riva Z binding, and felt like it was too much boot for the binding and ski (mostly the binding, though). Now Im on an Atomic TM EX and Black Diamond O2 bindings much better! As we up the ante with teleskiing, Scarpa boots are right there to match it.
This boot is awesome. It has performed beyond my expectations in the backcountry, flats, steeps, and serious moguls. Nice boot! Very comfortable. Very responsive.
Unbelievable combination of fit, comfort, performance, control, and weight. Steers like an alpine boot, but fits like a glove. Liiiiiike a glooove. Warm, not too heavy, and comfy to hike in. Best tele boot evar.
This boot does what it says on the box! A strong alpine boot which is stiff and responsive. I bought it because my Crispis gave me toe-nip, although the performance seems to be similar. Buy whichever leaves your feet least blue!!!
My wife & I have been in original T1's for the past 7 years. The new T1's instantly gave me huge improvement in ski and edge control in the steeps and the bumps. Absolutely love them and they are so comfortable.
I had been using a pair of Garmont Garas for my first year of tele. They were a good start for me, but were getting a bit soft, especially when I would get really low. It felt like I would lose contol at full flex. The T1s don't give me this feeling at all.
Also, I have a pretty narrow heel, so the fit of the boot is much better. I was in mondo 28s in the Garas (which felt small), and am in 27.5s in the T1s (which feels just riiiight!).
Not only do they look like something out of Star Wars, they are comfortable too! My crazy hubby buys his alpine boots two sizes too small (for better control and because suffering builds character) and he can't believe the luxury of boots that flex like an accordion and don't leave his feet numb. Totally worth the price!
This boot is great for what it's designed for. Not as tour friendly as my old T2's, but waaay more powerful on the descent, especially when pushing big skis. The locking mechanism is much better than the T2's, just flip the switch, lean back a bit and you are locked for the descent. If you spend most of your time in the backcountry doing low-angle tours these are probably not the best boots, unless you have 4 lungs and like pushing heavier gear. But if most of your time is in-bounds with only occasional out-of-bounds skinning or climbing, these are a good choice.
The new T1 is better than I would have thought. This boot is not too dissimilar to my alpine boot; it's that much boot! The new liners are so much better and moldable! This boot is a big improvement from the T1's of a couple of years ago. Time to step it up...!
I was a little hesitant to get this boot because I though it was too big to walk around in the back country - I was wrong. It is easy to move around in and gives me plenty of stability. Great in bounds and out. super comfortable. nice shoe!
I started telemarking with leather boots. Then changed to a very old Garmont plastic boot that was too soft and pinched my toes. Now I have the T1 and its by far the best. Comfortable, warm, the lightest of the plastic tele boots. The boots have lots of support and are fairly stiff so it translates to great edge control. The asymetric flex of the toes simply makes the most sense and no more toe pinching! These excel in on piste conditions but would not give you any problems in the backcountry as well. If you can only afford one new piece of good tele gear go for these boots. They will make more of a difference than new skiis or bindings.
