    Great Starter Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 40 or size 8

I was looking for a climbing shoe that wasn't too advanced, had some comfort to it, and could get me going on the tread wall at my gym to train for spring. This show served all of those uses. If you are just starting out and need a good looking functional show, this is it! The Scarpa fit seemed to me a little more comfortable than the La Sportiva fit for me as well. If you are trying to decide, I would definitely go try some on, they fit very differently by size.

Great shoe but not for smearing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought these as my first pair of new shoes (my very first pair was second hand and disappeared at the crag)

These were originally for climbing in the Rockies and I sized down for a super snug fit which was great. I then moved to Vietnam and they expanded so much in the humidity my feet slid around inside the shoes! When I got back to dry Canadian air they did fit more snuggly again.

My biggest complaint with these shoes is they suck for smearing. Luckily limestone is grippy enough on its own to be somewhat effective but otherwise awful.

So while I do recommend these I won't be repurchasing.

Great shoe but not for smearing

    Not an aggressive climbing shoe

It is a good shoe for crack climbing, where you don't need an aggressive shape or serious stick. However, this shoe is right around mediocre. I purchased these after having a pair of the five ten anasazis, and what a down grade.

I'm not sure what F6b+ means, but these shoes SUCK for smearing, not that I climb indoors much..... but they don't smear well in real life. I'd say pack a lunch the next couple of days, or skip a couple of cups of coffee this week and just get a pair of shoes that don't suck, especially if you're already a fairly dialed climber :-)

      Not Bad, Not Great..

These are my beginner shoes, and they are just that. I got a 6.5 and I am usually a 7.5, I'd recommend just going down a half size, but I am OK with a little comfort in my climbing shoes.. I will buy a new pair when these breakdown, probably a different brand all together. But they are not bad beginner shoes, especially for the price.
