Didn't get the chance to wear them

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was very exited to order them. Based on the size chart and others reviews, I ordered a 39 size (I am a 71/2 or an 8). Well, they were too big, had to return. Being from Canada, shipping is not free, so I am not willing to gamble again with the size (I estimate 38 will fit me, but I am not ready to throw another 50+$ in order to find out). Too bad, I already pictured myself biking with them!

Can these shoes be waterproofed in any way? If not, how much rain can they withstand? I have always used waterproof walking shoes for light hiking and for travel/sightseeing, but am considering giving these a shot to for when my Vasque Sundowners are overkill...but would I regret it when out all day on a rainy day in St. Petersburg?

You could probably treat these with Nikwax waterproofer, however that'll just help shed light rain. If you were to step into puddles and such the water would eventually work its way through the seams.

Super Comfortable!

These shoes rock for approaches and low grade climbing! They are comfortable, which is great when you are hauling 35 pounds worth of gear up a 10 degree incline. The rubber is great, but not as good as the stealth rubber. You can still climb tons of easy stuff in them, though. They are also stylish in some of the colors (even for a dude). Overall, this is a great approach shoe for everything from long approaches to easy pitches.

(By the way, if you've read my reviews before, you would have realized that I'm a dude. But I'm a small dude so I have to choose women's shoes instead of men's sometimes. So now you know why.)

Skip them if you have problem feet

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I read all the reviews about how comfortable these are...how they can be worn all day. Well there are very few shoes that I can wear all day and be comfortable in, so I decided to try these. What I found was that these provide no arch support at all, and very little cushion. They were super comfy while driving to the desert, but once I got out to hike up a very rocky, but short mile-long trail to a mine, my feet were killing me. And they still hurt the next day. My feet literally felt bruised. Too bad, because I love the look of these, but I can only use them as a driving shoe, not a walking shoe, which is pretty useless to me. If you can wear barefoot shoes or minimalist shoes, then these may work for you.

The Pope would love these!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These shoes are amazingly comfortable. I typically wear an 8.5 or 9 (lean towards 9 for athletic endeavors), so I purchased size 40.5. They are well cushioned, yet supportive, and made extremely well. There is plenty of room in the toe but still have a slim look and feel - not bulky and wide like some shoes. I wear them mostly for bumming around, and get comments all the time asking where they can get them. I wouldn't hesitate wearing them on a rugged hike. The Pope would envy my red (Parrot color) shoes...if envy wasn't a sin. I like them so much, I bought a pair for my husband, and he feels the same about the shoes.

Nice shoe!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great fit, awesome color and they look unique. I think they are almost true to size. I am either a 6 or 6.5 W shoe size and I ordered the 6 which is almost perfect.

How much volume is there in the forefoot of this shoe? I have both a wide foot and a pretty high volume forefoot. To give you a hint I can't wear Keen's or those Vibram 5 toed shoes due to the lack of forefoot volume.

I have found Scarpas to run fairly narrow and low volume. I have narrow low volume feet and a very low arch and Scarpas fit me great.

Have had these for two years now. I also have a high volume wider foot and thought these would be too narrow. I couldn't resist the color and they are awesome and super comfortable. the lacing system makes them work perfectly for me. I have to agree that the sole is thin and I prefer a stiffer shoe for longer hikes on rocky terrain. But these are a very comfortable light hiker for me. I can not have a narrow toe box as I have some issues with a big toe that was broken some years ago and these have never bothered it. I am shopping now for another pair.

Good to wear and good looking shoes!

I loved my shoes right away. Have used them for a few long one-day hikes. They are really light and comfortable. Very good when walking on paths and have a good grip on large stones.
However, they are not very stiff and I would not wear them in terrain that is hard to go over. Then higher and stiffer ankle shoes are probably better.

You should be good to go with a 38 in a Scarpa

Just think my baby blue Scarpa's are amazing!!!

I absolutely love my Scarpa's. They are the most comfortable shoes, I use them for walking, for workouts, even my trainer is a bit jealous! I am thinking of another color. I highly recommend this shoe to anyone who wants comfort and compliments!

LOVE EM!

I LOVE MY PINK SCARPA SHOES! These are incredibly well-made shoes that you CANNOT beat at a price of less than $100!!!! They look very cool design wise (of course - they're Italian!) , are comfortable, and provide great arch support (an important point to many folks). And Backcountry's shipping was plenty quick!
