The Scarpa Marathon rock climbing shoe is the perfect shoe for long mountain routes. We're always looking for two things from our rock shoes: performance and comfort. Well, the Marathon delivers on both counts. An extremely comfy and forgiving shoe, the Marathon has a supportive arch and a relaxed heel. The integrated PU heel wedge supplies an amazing amount of comfort during belays and talus descents, while the polypropylene midsoles provide both support and flex. And while these shoes don't take long to break in, they maintain their functional characteristics over time…even over multiple resoles.

Bottom Line: Great for lower-angle, longer-than-average routes.

I'm sorry about the cliche, but not about this purchase. I brought these shoes out West for use in Red Rocks in Nevada, the High Sierras in California, and Zion in Utah, and I could not have been happier. Great for edging, great for cracks, and awesome for scrambling and rapping down and avoiding that "break your foot" type pain you get with slippers. You can wear these things all day.

These shoes are comfortable and climb very well. They edge well and fit great yet are comfortable enough to wear for a full day of trad climbing. I love them.

Scarpa Marathon

They are what they say they are:
very comfortable all-around shoe. The somewhat stiff sole will not wrap around holds on overhanging routes in the gym, but does edge well on your way from one placement to the next. Good randing provides a secure heel fit. The padded tongue and heel also help to focus on the climbing and rather than foot pain. So good so far, I expect to get a lot of use out of them. Note: shoes run smaller than what the Scarpa sizing chart suggests.
