Description

A quick and light shoe that chews up trails for breakfast.

Your favorite trail feels as smooth as butter when you wear the Scarpa Women’s Epic Hiking Shoe for your next hike or trail run. A dual-density molded EVA midsole smooths out the impact in your forefoot and heel while the Trail Plate flexes just enough for comfortable, safe strides over uneven terrain. You may not think of it as you meander through the aspens, but the Epic’s recycled materials help you preserve the environment you love to play in. You will, however, think about the Trail-Speed outsole as you glide over mud and rocks without a worry in the world.

Hi Cassie -

Funny - I've been attempting to same, and have talked at length with Scarpa USA on the topic. They told me the Epic is somewhat close, but has a narrower toe box (and the Nitro was on the roomier side - something I needed). Width-wise, they recommended the Scarpa Moraine, available in both Gore-tex and non-Gore-tex versions (the non Gore-tex has been discontinued). The Nitro was unique in that it was a fairly robust, made-in-Italy, stiff, low-cut trail shoe that was a little wider than standard Scarpa models. Since then, the trend has skewed toward minimalist shoes that sacrifice a bit of durability and support to shed weight. Another shoe that comes close in spec looks to be the Zamberlan Crosser. A bit pricey, and Gore-tex only, but this may be the direction I'm headed, given my experience with Zamberlan having a wider toe box. Best of luck in your search!

Jen.. a 36.5 is a (US womens 5.5) you will be jumping a whole size if you go to a 37.5 if your asking if you need to size up .. i would say these fit rather true to size.

Hello! I am trying to get accurate shoe sizing for the Scarpa Epic women's shoe. I am a US size 8. I tried on the 38.5 but they were too small (said US size 7 1/3!). Should I do 39 or 39.5? Thanks!

Dara, my wife wears 7.5 US in some shoes and 8 US in Nike. The 39.0 is the correct size for her. Since you tried on the 38.5 and if it was way too small I would go with the 39.5.

I love these shoes. They fit my narrow feet perfectly. The laces go down a long ways so it make it easy to adjust them to the perfect fit. They hold my foot securely so rough trails are never a problem. They are light weight so you're not lugging a heavy pair of boots up a mountain.

These were my 4th try on the perfect hiking shoe and unfortunately they were a fail for me. I think this would have been a great shoe, especially for my narrow feet, but I also have extremely narrow/bony heels and these shoes just rubbed my feet the wrong way. I had horrible blisters on my heels after both of the two short hikes I wore the shoes on (with the second one I tried heel inserts, they didn't help). Otherwise these were just what I was looking for in a hiking shoe, it's unfortunate I had to return them. The search continues.....

Is this the shoe Scarpa replaced the Galactic with? I love those and am looking for the most similar new style.

Hey, Scarpa employee here. The Galactic was more of a trail runner and the Epic is more of a hybrid trail/approach shoe. To replace the Galactic you'd be better off with the Scarpa Raptor which is a true trail runner.
