Scarpa created the ZG Ego Men's Hiking Shoes for trail fiends who want lightweight footwear but don't want to sacrifice comfort in the process. Though these hiking shoes weight only 2lb 4oz per pair, they include EVA midsoles for cushion and TPU heel cups to provide pronation control on rough terrain. The ZG Ego Hiking Shoes also have durable Vibram Dynatech outsoles for traction on whatever terrain you encounter.

Bottom Line: Lighten your footwear for the big hikes by switching to the Scarpa ZG Ego Hiking Shoes.

Lite Hiking

I just needed a lighter pair of shoes for some light hiking in warm weather. I got them on sale at backcountry.com and they are very comfortable while providing a good support. I would definitively recommend them.

Nice Shoe

Well constructed and heavier than I thought. I usually wear a 11 but these seem to run a little big. I am also a low volume and these seem a little fuller than I would like, I can't pull the laces tight enough and will have to return them, unfortunately your out of 101/2 !! If your med-full volume than I would give them a try at this price.

I'm going to the Grand Canyon......would this shoe be too hot or provide too little ankle support. Also,I usually use a 11.5 wide running shoe. What size should I get? Thanks.

Hey Tom , I have a wide US size 12 . I bought the 45.5 and they fit well with very thin socks . I think they would do well on a long summer hike . They are heavier than running shoes , but they protect your feet more . They are too low to provide any ankle support .
sorry for the late reply .

Scarpa Ego Hiking Shoe - Men's

By:
May 23, 2008

I have been wearing Scarpa Nitro's for a number of years and love the shoe. it has been discontinued so have looked for a replacement. The Ego is not a Nitro. It has a narrow heel and sole instead of the flaired on the Nitro. Not sure it will work out as well as I need the extra stability.

Time will tell.
