The road may be what calls you out of bed, but the super-lightweight, award-wining Saucony ProGrid Kinvara Running Shoe is what makes the early morning run worth all the effort. That’s because the flexible, neutral design cradles your foot in its natural shape and the responsive midsole keeps your foot forever ready to spring into the next step.

  • Breathable mesh wraps around your foot and allows ample venting so you can train for your first half-marathon around town
  • The EVA foam footbed, a Heel ProGrid Lite cushion, and an EVA midsole protect your feet from the constant impact of running on roads, sidewalks, or tracks
  • The XT-900 carbon rubber outsole features tooth-like treads so you can dig into wet, inclined streets without worrying about slips
  • With only 7.7oz per shoe, you can keep your speed for longer distances with less effort

Bottom Line: All the essential features for speed and distance, without the clunky extras.

Best lightweight trainer

I'm a huge fan of the Saucony line and these shoes are another reason why. They are a super light, neutral shoe, but give enough cushion that you won't get totally battered running longer distances on the pavement in them. What really makes it a great shoe isn't just the lightwieght, but how it's made. The cushion is evenly distributed from the heel to the forefoot giving you a more 'natural' stride. A lot of trainers bulk up the heel cushion which is argued to promote heel striking. So, while these are not a typical minimalist shoe, they will promote more of a mid to forefoot stride with the cushion of a trainer, minus the weight.

Makes me run fast!

Tried going the minimalist route and at first I did well, but after a injury I realized I needed something more. I went with the Saucony ProGrid Kinvara and haven't looked back. This is my second pair and I will definitely be purchasing another.

Not the best...

I simply don't like these shoes, they're not for me at all. I do a fair amount of running in Vibrams or barefoot, and as such there is just too much cushioning in these. I bought them because Five Fingers really don't have enough cushioning for running on pavement, but these have too much. The cushioning is so thick that it makes my feet land farther in front of my body than normal, putting pressure on my knees and hamstrings. You don't notice this when you're running fast, but it's very apparent when you're going slow.

Check out the New Balance 101s for a shoe that will give you some cushioning, but still not screw up your stride.

Brady, I would definitely go into a store and have your foot pronation/supination video taped on the treadmill. Once you have an idea of what your current foot strike looks like, you'll be able to make adjustments to your gait (this probably has more to do with your knee pain) and find the right shoe.

This is not a barefoot shoe and if you are a traditional heel striker, the Kinvara may not have enough cushioning in the mid sole. It is lighter than most Saucony runners and there's not much of posting in the crash pad. These are still great shoes that need great gait to go with them.

I have bad knees. What you would suggest to find the right show? Go to one of those running stores and run on the treadmill and see what would be good for me. I love running but I can't find the right shoes for ME.

I really love this shoes! I had never used Saucony before but I will definitively will look forward to buy some more in the future.

This shoes are super light and comfortable. Even tho they are light, you feel great on the trail with them. I even use them on the road from time to time.
