Santini's Car4 Sleeveless Base Layer was designed to benefit you in several ways. Its open mesh construction works to regulate your body temperature by pulling moisture from your skin, and the slightly compressive fit gently holds your upper body's muscles in place. This composition means that you stay dry and ride ride fatigue-free for long periods of time.

Santini chose to use Resistex Carbon fabric for the construction of the Car4 for several reasons. First, it's highly wicking, breathable, and antibacterial. Accordingly, this keeps your body temperature regulated as moisture is transferred away from your skin through the fabric's differentiated micro-hole structure. This means that you stay dry and fresh, regardless of how much sweat your body produces. And in addition to these attributes, the material also consists of carbon threads that absorb and dissipate electric charges that're accumulated by the external environment. This trait is also paired with the 5% carbon fabric that keeps your body shielded from absorbing harmful ultraviolet rays. So, collectively, fatigue is reduced by eliminating these commonly unaccounted for variables.

The Car4's seamless tubular knit torso construction provides stitch-free comfort, and wide shoulder panels give you ample room to position your bib straps. And because the Resistex Carbon is light and highly elastic, you never experience any underarm pinching. Finishing touches include an extra wide waist hem that keeps the base layer in place, and Santini's SMS logo knitted into the upper back.

The Santini Car4 Sleeveless Base Layer is available in the color White and in the sizes X-Small/Small, Medium/Large, and X-Large/XX-Large.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

High-quality cycling clothing designed and manufactured in Italy by Pietro Santini and family since 1965.

A lot of UCI pro riders in Europe wear Santini. Look closely for the "sMs" logo (Santini Maglificio Sportivo) on the chest of the riders, for example on the 2015 Bianchi/Lotto-Jumbo team.

Application: Light/medium-weight vest base-layer for Spring, Fall, and Winter use.

PROS: Works great. Does not show through. Very comfortable! No seams (except one at shoulder) made possible by Italian sock machine manufacture. "Resistex" carbon fabric (also made in Italy) is anti-microbial, anti-static (nice) and UV-protective. This base layer fits easily over your head (unlike Castelli open-net vests). Added bonus: this white vest looks great under your bib-short straps -and- prevents irritation/itching from the stitching at the back of the strap seams (like on my Assos s7s).

CONS: none.

FIT: I'm 5'10 and 180. The M/L fit me perfectly. Don't size up one or two sizes -as usual with Santini or Castelli jerseys. You want this vest base layer to stretch fit around your torso.

I use this vest base layer on almost -every- ride. If it is > 80/85*, I use Santini's (or Castelli's) "mesh" base layer. 6 stars!
