Description

It doesn't take a superhero to protect your frame.

Even if Captain America is out of work, it’d be insulting to hire him as a chainstay protector…especially when the Santa Cruz Chainstay Protector can do the same job for less. And without the silly stars-and-stripes color scheme. Sold individually.

Deceptive

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The product is not accurately represented by the photo. In the image it looks rectangular. In reality, it's drastically flared. It's triangular. One end measures 91mm and the other end measures 114mm. So, if your chain stay is flared similar to these dimensions it will fit. All of my bikes have chain stays that are roughly the same diameter along the tube. Another reviewer indicated that there was a lot of velcro. I disagree. There is parsimonious velcro on this protector.

SC chain stay protector

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Works better than most. Strong Velcro. I still use helicopter tape on all my wear points. Or better yet. Get the new SRAM 1xll and quit worrying about chain slap.....

Santa Cruz custom look

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I picked up a new chain stay protector to spruce up my 2010 Blur LT2. Fits and looks great. My old one held up great over 2000 miles of thrashing on technical terrain in all kinds of conditions. After 3 years though, the lettering is getting a little worn, so a new protector was in order. Saved the old one, functionally it is good as new.
