5010 Mountain Bike Frame - 2015

The Santa Cruz 5010 Mountain Bike Frame is an excellent starting point for building an all-terrain rocket for occasional XC races, multi-day backcountry missions, and even a bit of lift-serviced riding. Though this aluminum version forgoes the fancy carbon construction of its higher-priced siblings, it features Santa Cruz's butted and hydroformed tubing for an ideal mix of lightweight performance and lateral stiffness. Its 68-degree head tube angle, snappy 17-inch chainstays, and low bottom bracket contribute to its extremely agile feel, cleaning the tightest of switchbacks and conquering a wide variety of trails without feeling overwhelmed when things get steep. 27.5-inch wheels roll over roots, rocks, and techy trail sections with poise and stability.

Equipped with 125mm of rear VPP travel and optimized for a 130mm front fork, the 5010 embodies the purest definition of a do-it-all trail bike. The VPP rear suspension makes it extremely efficient without sacrificing small-bump compliance on rocky, root-infested stretches of trail. The included Fox Float CTD rear shock features Fox's signature Climb, Trail, Descend (CTD) compression settings, allowing you to customize the shock's compression to the terrain at hand. Run it wide open on burly descents, lock it out on lung-busting climbs, or leave it in Trail mode for all-around efficiency.

Note that the 5010 comes with ISCG-05 tabs for chain guide use, 142mm rear axle spacing for extra stiffness out back, stealth seatpost routing for a cleaner overall look, and an English-threaded BSA 73mm bottom bracket.
