The Z14 reigns as Salomon's highest-retention composite-body binding. This time-tested model offers the same safety technology as its metal-body pro freeride/freestyle sibling the STH 14, with more than enough clamping power for the advanced-to-expert skier.

  • Automatic Wing Adjustment provides worry-free boot contact on step-in
  • Vertical Progressive Pivot manages backward twisting falls
  • Wide 5-14 DIN range allows for growth and skill progression

Bottom Line: Click in, rip, wreck, recover, repeat.

Will this binding fit on a ski that is 85mm under foot? I just want to be sure that with the brake width of 90mm that I won't run into problems when I have them mounted.

The brake width of 90 means it will accommodate anything up to that, so 85 works well with no extra, and no rubbing when the brakes come up.

Bindings are not measured in your shoe size, they are not connected in the middle. The toe and heel are free to go however far apart necessary to fit your feet. So buy what ever size brake width that fits your ski.

the jig is the same , the hole pattern is different. the main wide jig used for salomon bindings has the hole pattern for the driver toe (997/914/sth16) and the z12/14(Quadrax) toe.

No, this binding does not have the same hole pattern as the old 914 (or any other Salomon binding with the driver toe). This binding has the same mounting pattern and uses the same jig as all the other z series bindings. It is a 3 screw toe mount. They do share the same heel pattern though. The only Salomon binding out right now that shares the same jig as the 914 is the STH 16. All the other ones require a different jig, as they use a different hole pattern.
