Just got back from abundant power snowed Vail. TheVail magazine featured 6 top models for all moutain. This was one of them. I am 5'4 female(115pounds), so 152cm is perfect, but this model can be good for women as well?

I received my new Tornado TI skis last week and today was the first day on the mountain. The conditions were on piste and packed powder to soft powder and definitely not your normal spring conditions for California in April. After a couple of runs to adjust to the newer style skis (I had K2 X-15s until now), I found that these skis are amazing. The faster i pushed them, the better they were; always stable and they were still quick turning when I wanted. Great edge grip on sweeping carving turns and rock solid on the straight fall line runs. I am 54, 6', 220 lbs and an advanced/expert skier and I selected the 180's. I have no regrets other than the fact were are at the end of the season and I'll soon have to wait until next winter to hit the mountain!

I am wondering what length Tornado TI I should go for. I am 54, 6' and 220 pounds. I am an expert skier, like to go fast on steep and groomed. Will go off into powder in the right conditions and venture into the moguls occasionally. 173 or 180?

I recommend going w the 180. They turn on a dime, and I think you'll enjoy the longer ski at speed.

have the 2008 version- very versatile, but best on hardpack. Edge hold is fantastic and very little chatter at speed- hard to find for a 120# (aggressive) female skier as I don't have that much weight to throw around. Surprisingly quick for me in bumps and my go-to ski for when the steeps get icey. Although best on groomers they can float across crud if you keep them on a little edge and keep the speed up. Otherwise, they'll search for an edge without input, which never ends well. Get another ski if the powder comes, but then again, this ski is biased towards on-piste, and in my opinion, "all mountain" skis are pretty much guaranteed to ski all conditions mediocre.

Really good. 2 layers of titanium give these skis a super stable and damp behavior. I thought they were awesome in cropped up conditions as well as firm snow.

You better be ready to ski when you put these on your feet! These skis are not for people who don't know how to ski they are animals waiting to be put on a leash. When you engage your turn these skis squat down and rip like fat man in little coat they are fast, grippy and are waiting for you to tell them what to do If you are not ready for them you will end up on your a**. These skis turn almost effortlessly but with that being said when they do turn they pull some serious G's and have amazing grip on the snow. They are not the best in deep soft snow but they are not designed for that these skis are meant for the groomers and they are meant to go FAST! I absolutely recommend these skis for anyone who mostly skis the groomed trails and skis them hard and fast they are a lot of fun!

...and regarding the bindings, these are the same, so no worries, the Z12 are one of the best for the category

Hi Rob, not the exact same sidecut, the 09 version is a lil wider underfoot, and having skied both, the 08 execution provides a more radical carve feeling on groomers while the 09 is a lil more forgiving and versatile on various conditions with its wider footprint. But both of them are "groomers machines" and their differences are very subtle

Is there a big difference between the tornados and the furys?
Is there a big difference between the tornados and the furys? I am living and skiing in Switzerland for the last two years and have been using salomon o8 street racers which are fine on groomed piste but....ski mostly red runs and would like a ski a little more adaptable as conditions change and explore a bit of off piste areas....

You maybe should think about the Lord as well. If you're not an off piste skier, the slightly rockered tip will ease the transition and they are just 2mm wider under foot than the Fury's.
That being said, the Street Racer was a carving style type of ski and if your style is more about enjoying "g-force" turns, go for the Tornado Ti. It's my ski of choice for groomers.

Please recommend a ski length for a 40 year old athletic male that makes tight turns. I am mainly ski in the Midwest. I am 5'8" 160 lbs that is very active year round. Please advise if I need the 166 or 173

Agree, I'm same size, same weight, but 10 years old ;-) I recommend the Tornado's Ti in 166. I enjoy them on the few man made snow slopes I ski since the beginning of the season. They're a toy!

I'd say 166 would be fine for midwestern tight turn skiing at your height and weight.
