Choose your challenge with the Salomon XW Fury Alpine Ski with Z14 Bindings. Intermediate to advanced skiers who ride every part of the mountain will find this X-Wing the ideal tool for the job. Wide dimensions give you the platform to float in the pow, while a deep sidecut and carbon reinforcement give the XW Fury power to slice and dice the hardpack. Salomon's Spaceframe topsheet directs power straight from your boots into the snow, which lends this fat ski the power to break through crud. When you start going a little too fast, Salomon's Pulse Pad construction, an elastomer core sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic, absorbs unwanted vibration to keep you under control. The Pulse Pad also helps improve ski feel and power transmission to the edges. The included Salomon 914 bindings feature DIN adjustment of 6 through 14, catering to the needs of everyone from progressing intermediate to expert skiers.
Bottom Line: Step into the Salomon Fury Alpine Skis with 914 Bindings and call the entire mountain home.
Advanced intermediate/expert 5 9.5 200lbs currently skiing on 190 Olin Kinetics with Marker 12.0 twin cam bindings. Marker bindings allowed me to squeeze a few extra years out of this first generation fat tip ski (lol) fat compared to old style skies. Last 15 years skiing Northern Cali. resorts like Squaw, Sugar Bowl, etc. Now skiing Seattle area resorts like Crystal, and Stevens. When powder is available it is very heavy due to water content, go figure Seattle area. I am looking for an all mountain ski that is good on groomers, crud, and this ridiculous 12 to 18 wet powder days here in the Pacific Northwest. Am I asking for too much here? Would be nice but not a must to re-use existing Marker 12.0 twin cam bindings with 90mm waist brake limitation!
these boards absolutely rip. if you like a high performance ski, not some noodle, then you'll like the fury. they slice through ice as well as crude. very stable at speed, awesome on groomers. full wood core, definitely a race inspired ski, highly recommended.
Looking at the Salomon XW fire at Sports Authority and cannot find any info on it. It was probably made for their stroe however I cannot gage how good ski it is for an intermediate to advanced skier
the x-wing fire is a low end ski made just for sports authority. I would say it's for beginner/intermediate use. A better fit for your level, would be the x-wing hurricane.

I've been skiing on these for 2 seasons now and have to say that they are perfect for all your average all mountain day. If you love speed then these will take you there as they are very fast. Today I skied with them in about 3-4 inches of pow and felt like they were made for this. I have also skied with them in 20+ inches of pow and know that they were never designed for this. You have to work super hard at always leaning back or else your screwed. So that being said, they will give you 100% at everything except 12 inch plus powder.
6'3" 175# advanced and super aggressive skier looking for something that buckles down at high speed on the groomers but can also maneuver around the boarder bumps, tight trees, and heavy crud that the great Pacific North West throws at you. I have always owned Salomon and never had a complaint, but I have demoed some Atomics in the past that I liked. Is this everything I ever wished for?
Yes, great performance, but tended to sink a bit in the Tahoe waist deep in Killibrew. Should've gotten the a size or two bigger considering I'm 5'11" 180lbs. But, the nose tends to really want to sink in when short. I got the last years 172cm, great setup with the bindings(will go down in price big time most likely near spring time)but a little chatery at high speeds, once again too short! Pretty decent in the double diamond bumps(hence my choice for the shorter size)but the nose tends to thrash a bit and forgiving on hardpack drop-ins but will fire you down the face if backseat landing without prior knowledge ha ha. Held great on the spring steeps, easy crud jump turns and very strong lams and base :) Bindings are super! If I was going to buy these again I would buy the 184's and use them on the bumps when they came and on-piste pow. Great forgiving resort ski. Not a "one quiver ski". I'm moving to a twin tip possibly the Line Prophet 100 186cm.
Thinking about an upgrade from my old Salomon X-Screams, 187cm. Live in midwest but do most skiing out west. Looking for an aggressive ski that can handle anything. Love short radius turns and big arcs on the groomers. Ski maybe 20% on bumps and crud. Would the Fury be a good choice? Thanks in advance!
Hey Mike,The fury definitely fits in the "aggressive ski" category. it can handle whatever you throw at it for sure. it will eat up crud but for deep bumps its pretty stiff. Check out the Salomon Lord 185. It might be a better choice because its is really sweet on groomers but also more versatile for bumps & crud. but make no mistake the lord is also quite aggressive.
I'm 6'0 170lbs and am considering purchasing a pair of these. I'm intermediate to advanced level and spend most of my time on groomers with the occasional trip out west for some powder. Is this a good choice and what size would you recommend?
I'm an intermediate skier from the North East and I have a couple questions. 1. I'm about 5'10 200 I love glades and bumps whats a good size for me? 2. Anyone who has these are they really all mountain? We don't have the most powder in the world where I come from and need something that can handle the groomed trails as well as the woods.
These would work ok on groomers but not a good choice for trees, for size you sould be on a ski around 177 to 179. take a look at the LINE prophet 90 or VOLKL bridge or mantra, all 3 are excellent eastcoast skis and will rip the groomers yet work well in the trees/glades. they are way better then the salomon and cheaper.
