Salomon XT Wings II Softshell Jacket - Men's - 2010 BCS

Just found this on a great deal somewhere but we're well into spring so I don't know when I'll get to wear it. Fits like a glove, though. In fact, even on my scrawny runner's body (5-10, less than 140, size Small) it's almost tight in the upper body with a slight tendency to ride up. I really like the fit, though. Sleeves aren't ridiculously long, either, but I think they will fit average folks fine. Sharp looking, too. I can't speak to its windblocking or breathability capabilities but I am looking forward to trying it out.

So far, my favorite jacket for winter running. I wear this in below freezing weather over a light baselayer. I found the fit a little tight in the shoulders/upper chest, and a slightly loose in the stomach. But a overall good fit thanks to the stretch.

Breathability is good for a softshell, and the windproof front/fleece-ish back gives a great temp range. I like it better than the "Mountain Hardwear Transition Super Power" i used to run run in. The MH probably offered a little more protection, but the Salomon was lighter and IMO, had a slightly better fit for running. Another option to look at is the "Sugoi Firewall", which is a similar design. The windproof front, fleece back is key for winter running.

Warning: dudes wearing this jacket next to skin may experience some very uncomfortable chafing...

Salomon designers just created the real deal in a running soft shell. This is an absolutely terrific piece of outdoor gear. I ran in 40 degree windy weather and could not have asked for a better piece of protective and functional gear. The high collar and trim fit are super. I'm almost 6'5" and 210lbs and the XL is a perfect fit and I do mean perfect. Kudos to Salomon!!
