Fly along rough, muddy trails when you pull on the Salomon Women’s XT Wings GTX Trail Running Shoe. Thanks to a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane, moisture will stop short of reaching your foot and possibly ruining your day. Salomon gave this trail runner a women’s-specific shape and an asymmetrical Quicklace to give you a perfect fit with a single pull. A sidewall mudguard keeps the sludge from weighing you down, and a triple-density EVA midsole and OrthoLite insole add comfort during long runs. A Contagrip outsole gives you a ferocious bite on slick, sloppy trails.
Bottom Line: Take flight on your next trail run in this waterproof kick.
Salomon make some pretty cool looking trail shoes, and the XT Wings GTX is one of them. Overall, I find the shoe to be slightly wide for my narrow feet, and as with all my previous Salomon trail shoes, I always size down 1/2 a size.
This shoe, is very well built, as it should be for the price. I find stability and traction to be excellent. It's probably one of the better cushioned trail shoes that I have tried. My main use for this shoe is running on roads and trails in snowy conditions, and so far I've found the gore-tex to be doing its job. Grip is also great on snowy packed trails.
Well worth the investment if you are seeking a stable, cushioned, 'waterproof' trail shoe with good grip.
I tried many other brands over the last year, and came back to buy these. LUV them even more than I did two years ago. They fit superb. I have a narrow foot, and use insoles. The gortex is crucial this time of year. If you wear them inside you will get hot feet :-) The lacing system, keeps the fit snug, and quick on/off. Size chart was accurate. The sidewall mud guard does work, On a muddy hike, my husband had the regular Salomons and his shoe was weighed down and I was fine. Tread is great for icy conditions, and shoe is very stable on rocky surfaces.
Hi, Tamsin! I have narrow feet, and while they could be a little more narrow in width for me, they are not uncomfortably wide in the least. I would have to disagree with ast3388465. I think these shoes would be too narrow for you. It doesn't hurt to try them out though, right? You can always return them if they don't work for you. Good luck!

Love the lacing. the shoe fits so well to my foot- nothing rubs anywhere! true to size. great wiggle room for toes. lightweight, provide great stability. I really don't jog or hike trails; I got these because of slight knee pain and they are excellent shoes. These are superior to any air, gel or other "specialty" running shoes. I have them all...my feet feel really protected in these shoes. money well spent.
Bought them for running in wet weather, and turns out they let water through, even if they don't soak instantly. Despite the original factory DWR (if any) and a good dose of Nikwax fabric & leather waterproof spray I applied right after purchase, I can feel even the lightest drizzle seep in through the stretch of fabric between the base of the tongue and the toes.
I have solomons that looks like the XT Wings GTX Running Shoe, but they are grey with Lime green inside and on the sole. Are they the same shoe. I bought mine in April 2009.
Bought the non-Gore-tex version of these back in May '09 and have loved them! They fit true to size and have an arch to fit the average foot (not too high, not too low). Ample cushioning and room in the toebox. They have held up thru miles and miles of running and hiking. I just ordered the Gore-tex version (GTX) and can't wait to get them. I live in Colorado, and now I will be able to hike in the snow without the worry of wet feet, or blisters from a less comfortable shoe.
My girlfriend and i are avid trail runners. we both, over the spring and summer ran in salomon xa pro ultra's. We loved em.I bought her these xt wings gtx for the fall/winter season. She's used them for 3 weeks now and we're soooo hooked on salomon. There are none better. We run on really tough rocky, muddy and snowy trails and these hold up no matter what you throw at em. They're worth the $'s.
Believe it or not, I bought these shoes for snowshoeing. They were recommended to me because they a Gore-Tex lined and would keep your feet dry while allowing more flexibility while snowshoeing compared to traditional winter boots. We haven't had enough snow to snowshoe yet this season, but I did wear them in colder weather and was quite happy that my feet stayed warm. I normally wear a size 8 and ordered these in an 8. They are a little large in width, but that's o.k. since I'll want to wear them with thick winter socks. For trail running with thinner socks, you might want to consider downsizing half a size. Especially if you have a smaller volume foot.
