A little narrow but super comfy hiking!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I had blisters on both of my little toes after a longer hike to a 14er. I believe I have to break the shoes in because I love them otherwise. After my blisters heal I'll give it another shot. The blisters formed only during descending a 14er so casual hiking should be just fine.
The shoes are super comfy for the bottom of your feet even after a long hike!

Run a bit big

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

I've been wearing this shoe and it's previous model for years. When I ordered them this time, they were too big - had to return for a half size smaller. Love the shoe, though!

Did they switch from Gortex to Climashield...

Did they switch from Gortex to Climashield this year? Is the shoe the same durability?

Love these shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I swear by these shoes for just about any activity- walking in the snow, running, backpacking, traveling. They are comfortable, supportive, and keep my feet dry while hiking in snow or backpacking in the rain. I also tend to have very cold feet and these shoes keep my feet warm during winter walking and hiking! The quick lacing is great, but make sure to tuck the end up into the tongue or the lace will get caught on things. Backcountry.com's delivery and service is the fastest and best I have received from an online source.

Tough, waterproof, but not so breathable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

These shoes are awesome for pretty much everything. They are definitely waterproof as described, although the insides can become wet if splashed from above (say when you ride your bike through a creek). I must say on the flipside however, that although your feet likely wont become wet from outside elements, waterproof= not breathable=hot sweaty feet (if you are out getting your heart rate up). I might have to purchase a pair of the non-waterproof version of this shoe for biking and running if decent colors ever come out; but in the mean time it is not so bad.

The soles are very durable- mountian bike pedals have serious potential to shred through soles, but these shoes are built tough, the soles look almost new even after a full year of riding, not to mention wearing them as my everyday shoes as well.

Sounds like they're good to go on the trails, snow, rain and cold temps.. but for warmer conditions or mountain biking they're not ideal. All useful info!
