Description

Tread softly and carry a wide shoe.

Dirty, muddy runs call your name. It's okay; just reach for the Salomon Men's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 M+ Trail Running Shoes and give your wide feet some protection for miles of trails. Built to be light and quick, these shoes rock a supportive outsole with cushioning in the heel and a stabilizing plate that creates a steady platform with each step. Strategically placed patches of textile work together with the Ortholite sock liner to wick moisture and let your feet breathe easy in the mountains.
  • M+ means that this shoe is a widened version of the XA Pro 3D Ultra 2
  • 3D Chassis construction combines a protective heel counter, a force-distributing stabilizing plate, heel cushioning, and a sole designed specifically for the entire mountain
  • Energy Cell2 cushioning helps absorb heel impact from rocks and obstacles to reduce joint fatigue
  • Ortholite sockliner wicks sweat and moisture away from the surface of your feet to encourage evaporative cooling
  • Asymmetricl Quiklacing tightens evenly with a single pull of the threaded cable for a secure fit
  • Non-marking Contagrip running sole provides traction on worn trails, loose gravel, and mix surfaces

Unexpected

Awesome shoes excellent track and very comfortable. It should have been a 5 star if there is lining inside the shoe so no draft. I think this shoe is for summer and not good for winter.

Does Salomon make a GTX version of these or are they planning to at some point? I love these and would really like to have the gore-tex version for early spring/late fall hikes where the temps drop and a few flakes fall.

Responded on

The only one I could find is this one here.
http://www.amazon.com/Salomon-XA-Pro-Ultra-GTX/dp/B0073OU4YS But I'd be a little careful amazon sometimes has inaccurate descriptions. But as it's sold by amazon and not a third party I wouldn't worry to much.

I really seem to have a problem finding a shoe size to fit me comfortably. Mens 12US is to short, 13-14 US. Usually to long.Do they make a 12.5? Thanks :-). Most of the time I wind up getting a 13US. New Balance. Triple-EEE. :-)

I'm in between a 11 and 11.5. Should I buy the larger or smaller size?

Responded on

I always go a 1/2 size bigger on Salomons and they fit great.

Best hikers ever

These are the best hiking shoes I have ever owned; I'm on my third pair, and I use them for everything from easy day hikes to 15+ mile days to overnights with a 30 pound pack. They're so comfortable I don't bother bringing camp shoes. A couple of tips: Superfeet Green insoles add just the right amount of support and stiffness for my tastes. Also I use a light trail running gaiter to keep the junk out and to cover the lace system, (The tongue pocket is kind of a pain). Third, I use Rocky Gore tex socks and just walk right through creek crossings; they drain quite quickly. My only complaints are price and durability. I go through about a pair of year, but that's the price you pay for such a lightweight shoe.

The M+ is smaller thean the regular size. Found them to be very narrow in the toe area. Order a size larger.

Quicklace System Nightmare

A no buy warning. The shoes by themselves appear to be very good; however, the Quicklace system just won’t stay tight and turns into a nightmare shortly into the run. One of my shoes is far worse than the other, but both eventually have become loose. Backcountry support said to put an overhand knot in them - so much for the Quicklace. It's really hard to tie and even harder to get out (10 minutes or so digging through the mud, per shoe), but they don't come loose with a knot just above the slider. Backcountry has graciously offered a refund even though I've run through the mud with them more than once trying different methods to get them to stay relatively tight on my feet.

I'm having the same problem with the Quicklace system and I have less than 300 miles on the boots.

salomon XA Pro 3D

Working in a warehouse, walking miles every night on very rough floors, climbing racks, pushing heavy pallets, hot, cold, wet, dry these shoes take it. Camping, fishing it does not matter. These are the best shoes I have ever owned...

great shoe for wide feet

I love these shoes!!! The best trail shoe that I have ever worn. I have wide feet and these provide plenty of room for my toes. I did an adventure race last weekend in these shoes and was really impressed with the shoe's ability to shed water. I have had Salomon shoes before and now I have the perfect fit for my feet with the addition of a wider size.

Considering the XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 shoe. You stated the width was fine, about being true to size? I usually buy running shoes 1/2 larger.

Okay on the trail.

While these are great on the trail, protecting you from all sorts of unpleasantness like rocks, they are horrible the minute you step off onto a paved surface. The lacing system takes a lot of trial and error to get the right tightness and they require a good bit of break in.

Are these shoes specifically for wide feet?...
