Great for C width foot!

My size 11 'C' width foot loves these shoes. Salomon designed these to be super breatheable, and comfy. They are great for trail running; I used mine with a pack in place of a heavy backpacking boot, and I will be buying a new pair for this backpacking season. These are simply great shoes.

I took this shoe with me on my thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail and Continental Divide Trail. I LOVE THEM. In the entire 3700 miles I had 2 blisters, both on the AT, and have used four pairs. They last forever and keep me extremely comfy. They grip the trail great, a bonus in Maine and New Hampshire where the AT scales near verticle boulders in the trail, and they vent like no other and dry in a flash. I also run my ultras and relays in them on both road and trail and have never run in a better shoe.
Not for Wide Feet

So I've poured over the reviews on this site to find a good trail running shoe to replace my aging vasque velocity (which they no longer sell). I decided to get the XA Pro 3D based on the reviews here.
The shoe is actually quite nice and the lacing system was sweet. However, I must have wider feet than most of the reviewers here because these shoes were very narrow. The toebox had adequate room but between the toes and the heel it get very narrow. I tried twice to run in them and had to stop at 3/4 of a mile because of the pain on the outsides of both of my feet. I would not recommend this for people with wide feet.
It's a great shoe if it had fit me. I wish they made a wider version of it. I just wanted to submit this review to help those with wide feet make a better decision.
Oh, and this companies return policy rocks!.
I LIKE!

Sweet shoe overall. At first was hesitant about the toe box, because it was bigger than I was used too, I have a narrow foot, but that hasn't been a problem for me overall. I found it to be super comfy both uphill and downhill. Also the lacing system seemed weak, but have held up quit nicely. Nice adjustability within the lacing system which makes for a personalized fit. Great all around traction. Overall, a nice breathable, light weight shoe. My first, but not my last Salomon.
Great shoes

This is my second pair, and I've taken them from trail running in the Arizona desert to light backpacking in the Sierra-Nevadas. They dry quickly, have plenty of support, and hold up pretty well. The Salomon quick lace system works great. I've never had the laces come loose, just don't let your cat eat them. Thats the only reason I'm on pair 2.

I have never owned a pair of Salomons in the past. With the help of the web-site people, I was talked into trying them...and WOW...I love them! The support, the grip right down to the speed laces, all top notch! So, once again, you come thru with shining colors by introducing me to Salomon!!.....Thanks!
Another solid shoe from Salomon

After wearing out my Montrail's I was in the market for a new pair of trail runners. I had tried Salomon's initial offering for the adventure race market, the Raid Race, and had been somewhat pleased. So I opted for the XA Pro 3D this time around and I'm glad I did. The XA Pro 3D is a solid shoe. The lacing system is easy to tighten and balance the load. The heel cup is sturdy and increases the lateral stability, and the mesh upper has great air flow. All in all, another solid shoe from Salomon.
GREAT SHOE; EXCELLENT SERVICE

My husband loves the shoes!! The fit very well and are comfortable. He usually wears a 7 1/2 and took an 8 in these.
Your customer service is the very best! Your shipping time is amazing. I will be back to shop again!!
Thank you!
Great product but don't confuse this with a running shoe.

As my first trail running shoe from a company more known for their hiking shoes I didn't know what to expect. Excellent support and protection, similar to what you WOULD expect in a hiking shoe/boot. Having run cross country (now referred to as "trail running", as if we have a need to differentiate to people whether we shall be running on the road today or the trail) for over 30 years I find this shoe much closer to a light hiking shoe than a running shoe. Nothing wrong with that if you really want to run in a fairly stiff, heavy shoe but trust me, there is nothing wrong with taking a conventional running shoe "off-road". The Salomon will give you marginally better protection from rocks and debris but then one could argue that a lighter shoe might allow you to pick up your feet easier, avoiding the obstacles altogether. Perhaps the biggest benefit would be for going off-trail, over rocks, scree, boulders, downed tree limbs, etc but then they wouldn't be called "trail" running shoes. My first pair tore around the toe box where the shoe flexes. The upper material ironically does not seem up to the task of the rough and tumble world of trail running as one might expect. Since this was starting to happen on the other shoe as well I considered it a design flaw. The site was great in exchanging the product and getting out a replacement for me at no cost. Pretty amazing these days but I would expect that Salomon is backing them up so hats off to them even if they fell short on their shoe design. 3 stars for the shoe, 5 for the site and 4 for Salomon.

This is the 4th pair of the XA's that I have worn. Having a new color is nice to tell which pair is new when pulling them out of the closet.
I wore this pair for the WF 100. The sole of these shoes is great. No delamination, very true wear. The toe box is protective. Could use a little more forefoot cushion/stiffness. Foot rides pretty low in the shoe which makes them very stable. Unfortunately that also lead to a little pressure on my lateral malleolus on uneven trails. Lacing system is a plus.

Nice shoes, but your feet will get wet and dusty thanks to the mesh. The XA Pro 3D XCR is worth the extra money.
I could sleep in these shoes!

These are the best shoes I have ever worn! They are true to size and the fit is amazing! Super comfortable! Awesome grip, even in mud and rain. I have been running for 22 years and these are the best shoes I have ever had!
Great Shoe, better on the dirt

I have loved this shoe from the first moment I pulled it out of the box. I have a high arch and it took me a couple runs to get used to the support and how close your foot is to the ground. The tread and traction on the trail makes for great support and the low profile adds to stability. They are not my favorite shoe for running on the street, but they are not designed to be. That said, I couldn't be happier with the product.

This shoe is way comfortable (if you couldn't tell by the heading). It rubbed a little when i first put it on but now it is perfect. I have a good friend who isn't all into the trailrunning (but he's a huge runner) and he is getting a pair of these for himself. He tried them on and loved them. The style is great too. When I'm just wearing them around I'm always getting compliments. Great buy.

Awesome shoe as always. I have been running in Salomons for five years now and they have never let me down. Great stability, durability and reliability in all types of terrain.
Good, but not great for me.

Xa Pro 3d- This shoe fits like a glove right out of the box. I love the way it feels and I love the way they fit my feet and they are super light. However, I'm 6'2 190. I don't run with any sort of finesse so with that being said, I need cushioning. On my first trail run they were awesome at first, but I noticed on descents there was barely any cushion! So, if you aren't a big guy, and don't need lots of cushioning, give these a try.. otherwise look somewhere else. Or.. if you just want some COOL looking walking shoes.. give theses a whirl. I give these a 5 for what they are, I give them a 3 for me personally.

I was a bit skeptical of Salomon's lacing system, but I soon learned that they work just as good if not better than traditional laces. Once they are cinched tight, they remain tight an conformed to your foot. They are super light and breath great while running. They grip well on all terrain. My only gripe is that the long tightening string can get in your way a bit.
great fitting shoe

This is my husband's second pair of XA Pro 3D Trail Running Shoes. He has a narrow foot that the XA Pro 3D fits very well because of the lacing system. Also, the shoes provides all the right support for his feet while running. I bought from this site since it was the best price I found online.
