X Ultra Mid Winter CS WP Boot

Tromp through deep-snow drifts, tackle freezing temperatures, and navigate iced-over sidewalks with the waterproof protection, toasty insulation, and sure-footed grip of the Salomon Women's X Ultra Winter CS WP Boot. Ready for winter's worst, this boot features a waterproof nubuck leather upper and Climasalomon membrane for total protection when you're shoveling snowed-in driveways, crossing slushy parking lots, or hiking on freshly dusted trails. Thinsulate insulation traps fiery heat to alleviate frozen feet when Arctic fronts blast through your locale so you don't have to call it quits and seek shelter in the less-fun indoors. Plus, the fuzzy textile lining adds a touch of cozy-softness to your winter wear.

Supporting your every step, the boot's OrthoLite EVA footbed provides high levels of comfort for walking long distances. Its injected EVA midsole absorbs impact from treading over rough terrain, while the molded shank support keeps you cruising comfortably over uneven surfaces when you're hiking through the woods or in the mountains. And to keep you from slipping on black ice and slick winter surfaces, the Contagrip sole grips over icy, snowed-over surfaces like a set of winter tires for your vehicle.

Good boots until now when water leak in

I bought it one year ago and the water get in now. Everytime I wear these, my feet are all wet.

Great boots, poor laces

I have loved wearing these boots over the last 3 months. I have bragged to everyone about their performance and comfort. Too bad 3 months in and one of the laces snapped in half while simply tying my boots in the snow! I would still recommend the boots. But you better get some back up laces. Imagine if this happened in the back country?

Solid boot!

Needed a new winter hiker, was worried they’d be a little too bulky but they’re perfect, the insulation is just as described so better if you stay on the move and do a great job keeping the weather out. They work well with my snowshoes or micro spikes and also work great with my gaiters, they seem a little lofty, but I may have been suited better for a 7.5, so I have gotten blisters in one foot but other than that I love them!

Wide forefoot | SUPER warm

I bought these as a boot for winter hiking/walking the dog in Vermont. I hate stiff hiking boots so the running shoe chassis in this boot is what drew me in. These are some of the most comfortable winter boots I've owned. I have a 100mm last foot and these are wide enough for me to wear thick socks in and still have room for air insulation or toe warmers (though I have yet to need them even in below zero temps). They do seem to run large, I probably could have gone a half size down. I typically wear a US Women's 8 which is what I purchased, but a 7.5 would have worked as well. The footbed is also the most comfortable I've had in a shoe, it adapts to the shape of your foot without creating any weird pressure points. I would highly recommend these to anyone!

Love these boots!

I have two pair of these boots and love them a LOT. They're a perfect winter hiking boot: good tread, warm, and comfortable. The laces are too long and actually tripped me by getting caught in the upper hooks. I resolved this by double-lacing them through the hooks (hope this makes sense). Otherwise I love everything about these boots. They're durable and lightweight, and they have the right amount of support for me. My orthotics fit in easily.

Perfect - right out of the box

I have a "Saloman foot" , this is my 5th pair of Saloman boots and like the other 4 these are perfect. Hiking in the Rocky Mountains, on snow and ice, with crampons and then snowshoes these boots don't disappoint.

Super comfortable, run slightly large

These boots are so comfortable right out of the box and are very warm. I found they're about a 1/2 size too big so my heels rub which makes me worry about getting blisters. Also, I'm sure with frequent use they will pack out a bit over time which means they'll be even bigger. I will be swapping my size 8 for a 7.5 because the only other option is doubling up on socks which is never very comfortable. Overall I really like them and only deducted a star for sizing discrepancy.

I felt like the old days slipping into dress shoes designed to torture women. Narrow toe box, top of shoe coming down hard on toes. Heel slippage. Hard fit. My husband had choices buying his winter boots and he saidmen's boots at baseline have normal sized toe boxes understanding feet splay, women's feet are wide too, and we wear heavy socks for hikes. I don't want fashion- no blue or purple boots for me please.. just good ankle support for flat feet, waterproofing, roomy toe box, and toe roof, warmth and general comfort.

Great All around boot

I have used these for walking trail and long periods outdoors below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I have yet to test them in single digits weather or a 4K footer. Fit: Overall a little more sloppy than my Salomon 4ds. However that air gap helps my feet stay warmer. I wear a 7.5 in Salomons but usually I am 8-8.5 in most shoes/sneakers. Easy lace up system. Laces are long. Top lacing sometimes comes off boot and Into my shin. I remedied that by placing through loop on tongue of boot. Warmth: My feet get cold quickly, but these boots have kept them warm. I have worn them with an ultra think merino wool sock and a medium merino wool sock depending on the weather and my activity level. Use: Good in snow and on hard ground. On ice I usually wear micro spikes or grippers so I can’t comment on that. I like that they have a loop for gaiters.
