Salomon fine-tuned the Men's X Ultra Prime Hiking Shoe for speedy hikers making fast ascents. Its SensiFit upper cradles your foot to ensure a precise and secure fit, and the Ortholite sockliner wraps your foot in a breathable foam that creates a cooler, drier, healthier, and altogether more comfortable experience.
For performance, Salomon equipped the X Ultra with a lightweight, Advanced Chassis midsole, which combines injected EVA with molded EVA to maximize motion control, energy management, and push-through protection. Its ContaGrip sole delivers optimal traction on varied surfaces. The X Ultra also features a gusseted tongue to keep out debris, a protective rubber toe cap for rocks, and a mud guard to keep it clean.

Perfect shoes.

I'm on my third pair of these babies, before finding them, I wandered forlorn and with sore feet, counting down the miles 'til I could make camp and put my flip flops on. Enter the Salomon X Ultra Primes. Bye bye, camp shoes! Hello, more pack space. These + superfeet + even your heaviest pack = heaven. These have converted me from a sore, other trail runner brand wearing backpacker to a person who forgets they even have feet and just enjoys the scenery. I've had no issues with durability, in fact, all of my Salomon products (shoes, boots and clothes alike) have lasted hundreds upon hundreds of miles worth of trail. I hike mostly on the east coast and on the AT, but plan on using these to conquer the JMT and various parts of Utah this season and have no worries as to their ability to hold up. Running, hiking, slogging through swamps, these babies have got you covered.
They do run a little small, though, so I order a half size up.
Awesome Shoes...while they last.
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
Pros: All Day Comfort from work to grocery store to mountain trails.
Excellent traction in all weather conditions: sand, light mud, rock, etc.
Breathable, feet stayed cool and good airflow through summer hikes.
Cons:
After about 6 months of wear they are still in great shape but the soles are coming unglued. I'm very disappointed as I had the EXACT same issue with Merrell's after 2 1/2 months of wear and chose to switch to what was supposed to be a higher quality, more durable shoe.
great shoe
Pretty solid shoe seems well built, like the ankle support
