The Salomon X-Adventure 7 Backcountry Boot is warm, supportive and ready for a burly day of backcountry touring. Its articulated free-flex heel has a stiff lateral support to increase control on the downhill and a soft forward flex so you can tour with ease. Thinsulate insulation keeps your feet warm on chilly January dawn patrols, and the thermo-formed heel locks your foot securely in place to prevent heel lift. Perfect for use with Salomon BC skis, the X-Adventure 7 is at home on long traverses and descents. The Salomon X-Adventure 7 Backcountry Boot is only compatible with SNS BC bindings.

Bottom Line: Get more control in the backcountry with the X-Adventure 7 Boot.

Backcountry 7 Boot

These are the best all around backcountry boot I have tried. I have a hard time with boots and have tried many with lots of blisters. I rented these for a week and knew I loved them. Thanks so much. I ski all over Southern Oregon mountains and use them more than weekly.

Tried the boots in spring conditions last weekend, and can report that they are warm, comfy, keep wet snow out, but not as waterproof as plastic when walking through bogs!

Fit is similar to Salomon track boots, with laces under a zippered cover. They're okay for walking, booting up couloirs on not-too-hard snow, and feel for what's happening underfoot is good, which aids grip. Control is similar to RS-9 skating boots or mid-weight leathers, which means they ought to turn okay with something like a Rebound/Rainier/XA88. (I survived a couple of ~30 degree chutes on some long, very straight touring skis, but this wasn't very stylish!) Both tele and p-turns are fine, though stiff flexors are likely to help, esp. with jump turns.

Bottom line: recommended for general touring and okay for steepish descents on good snow for finesse skiers with not-too-wide or heavy skis. YMMV!
