Salomon Vertigo Hiking Shoe - Women's - 2007 BCS

I bought these shoes because I could no longer find a Salomon "Fusion" shoe in a color that I liked. I was happy to find that I like the "Vertigo" better. They are equally comfortable, they have a less clunky heel, less pointy toe and seem more stylish all around. The tongues (like the Fusion) are definitely denser and stiffer than a typical running shoe tongue - I suspect to protect the top of your foot from the ultra thin laces - but I like them and do not consider them uncomfortable. I also love how easy they are to slip into and they stay on even though I rarely cinch up the laces. I took the advice from other reviewers and ordered a half size down (8.5). They were comfortable enough right out of the box to dash out the door and wear to work. Unfortunately, by the end of the day I realized they were a little too small (and too dirty) to return. I normally wear a size 9 and the size 9 Vertigo fit perfectly. I really like these shoes - and at half price I'm considering ordering another pair. Anyone out there interested in a used pair of 8 1/2's?

Love my two pair of black ones (order 1/2 size smaller) but the grey was more of a light moss green. I find them waterproof----at least in OR.

1/2 - 1 size too big and tongue digs in to front of ankle

they walk and hike well. the tongue sometimes digs into the front ankle, though, so running might get uncomfortable. also, running one size larger. i'm an eight, got an eight, returned for 7.5, which is still too roomy. note-i never wear a 7, but would be tempted if i was to order another pair.

I love the lacing system on these. They are easy to get on and off and they are very warm and comfortable. I don't even have to wear my arch supports with these since they are soft but still supportive.

I love the lacing so you never have to tie them, and they are so light and there is virtually no break-in time required. Agree they are roomy, ordered regular size and great with big hiking socks, so personal preference.

The reviewer JDUB was right on about ordering a 1/2 size smaller. I went with that and ordered the 7 though I am normally a 7.5 for any shoe. They are so comfortable with no break-in time needed. They fit perfectly.

These shoes are fantastic! The Ortholite insoles are wonderful & add so much comfort to this shoe. I normally wear an 8 1/2 in womens but ordered an 8, which fit perfect. I would definitely suggest ordering a size down than what you normally wear.
