The Salomon Twenty Twelve Ski features a wide park-and-pipe design and Twin Rocker to make spins, butters, and off-center landings second nature. 550mm of tip and tail rocker shortens the contact length of the ski, letting you pivot on a dime and land huge spins without catching your edges.
Super-stable 91mm waist width counteracts the instability of a short contact length
Sandwich Sidewall construction for precise edging power
Full wood core for consistent flex and longevity
Total Edge Reinforcement adds a fiberglass layer directly on the edge for improved impact resistance
Anyone know what the weight is on a set of 186 2012's (I know they aren't out just yet but can't find the specs anywhere)? I was looking at the on3p Jeronimo's but they seem really heavy and I was looking for something a bit more playful. Thanks in advance
Been skiing for years now only recently converted to park/all mountain skis (K2 Public Enemies, Salomon Shogun) this ski is great, wasn't expecting anything great as mainly a park ski but awesome on the pistes and powder, always good. Light to ski on carve really well and even good in the slush which is a bonus. Paid half price for these as were a rentals (only 5 weeks skiing) but scratched up but you could hardly notice.
With 179cm being the biggest size offered, there was a lot of people who rode the 179cm this year. Next year, the 186cm is going to be around so it will help for us 6'0'' + sized people. Most of the pros who use the skis are all on the 179cm because the 171 is simply too short.
With your height, weight and willingness to improve I'd say the 179cm. It's easier to grow into the ski, then buy the 171cm and realize after a couple months it's too short

Only got the chance to ski these in spring slush but they did everything really well. They were pretty stable but they are one of the most playful and fun skis out there.
it is going to feel shorter since it is reverse camber, but if you have skied it and it works well for you you should jump on them. at 165 i feel like you will not end up putting an intense amount of force on the ski, and it is hard to find a park ski over 180
Been skiing for 25 years, on conventional skis, Head monsters, Fischers, and Atomics , Salomon 2012 is the first rockered ski I had ski-ed. Demo'd it at Big Sky last week. I typically ski 170-175's had the 171 for the demo and they were lights out. I have never skiid black diamond moguals (grizzly, bad dog, mad wolf, conga) as easy. Turning was instantaneous. Running through the glads after a chopped up wind blown day was actually fun. You need to be centered when carving but they will carve deep trenches in the snow....I haven't tried them on east coast ice rinks but that will happen this weekend. In all if I could rate them higher I would. They had to kick me off the lift at the end of the day because I enjoyed them so much. That being said....I know own a pair.....and looking for the next snow day.
I am 5 11 and 145 lbs. and an aggressive skier. i am used to 160's in traditional camber skis. if the 550 mm of rocker makes its contact edge only 124 cm then should i go with a 179?
Tried this for a few last runs in mammoth after it snowed 16 feet and i had been on the Benchetler all day. I took it out into the pow thinking it would not float too well but i was shocked to find that it floated pretty damn well. It felt so fun popping off everything. I knew that this was the ski i was in love with. Bought my own pair and rode it in hard pack conditions off a few jumps and it handles really well. Very easy to butter with. The twin rocker makes it that more interesting. I now think that i will never buy a traditional chamber ski again. The rocker is here to stay. A little expensive but def. worth it. This is the ski to try! It is the best!
Hoping this is the replacement to the Salmon Foil, which is probably one of the most fun and versatile ski I have been on, minus some high speed chatter.... Has anyone skied it yet to compare?
I am 6'1, 160 lbs...I got the 179s, mounted centered with Marker Griffons. I Was not expecting such a difference in performance from my old skis (Dynastar Troubles, K2 PEs, 4fnt tnks) to the twenty twelves. I ski east coast so I was a little hesitant about the rockered tips/tails and the 91 mm waist. They rip through all different conditions very well. They are sick through glades. I mounted them centered yet they still seem to have a -2-4 mount feel while skiing all mountain, but their swing weight is super light and even in the park. These sticks got pop like crazy, too, which I again was not expecting from a rockered tip and tail.
These skis are super playful with great stability. Best set of skis I've been on in a while.
Hey im a 18 yearsold 6'2 and ive been snowboarding for 5 years, i recently had reconstructive knee surgery and found snowboarding to hard, Ive tried skiiing once a few years ago and I didnt seem to have a problem with it. Im considering 3 skis, the salomom lords, the salomon twenty twelves, and the 4frnt msp, I want to use them for park, groomers and powder skiing. I was wondering if you guys could just help me out a little with trying to find the best ski.
For anyone who has tried both, how does this ski compare to this years suspect? which ones more park oriented and which one a little more all mountain?
Just Spent a week on the twenty twelves in France, conditions were ok with a lot of hard pack & moguls, wished I could have found some decent powder reckon they would have been a blast. Found the 2012 to be very good as an all mountain ski, easy & fun everywhere & even good one the moguls, crud & ice. In the park they did the business. Ok at speed, good for cruising & very easy to work but not for hard core blasting. Went for the standard binding setting rather than progressive. Fell in love with the old 1080s years ago, reckon these are the natural successor
The first thing you will notice when skiing the Twenty Twelve is the reverse camber under tail. It forces you in a much more neutral stance and doesn't allow for the "jibberish" lean back steeze of the Suspect.
Both skis rip groomers super well and in the park, you'd be suprised on the swing weight of the twenty twelve. THe suspect is proven, no need to boast. The twenty twelve is defiently different and far less conservative.
