    Details

Finally, a pair of running pants that avoid the tight package-bulge.

The Salomon Men's Trail Runner Warm Pant has all the qualities you'd expect out of top-quality running tights with an exception to the next-to-skin fit. Its ActiTherm fabric feels soft next to your skin and provides all the warmth you need for cold mornings. An active fit pulls the pant close to your body without restricting your mobility or outlining every detail of your package. Waist adjustments let you cinch the waist down, and reflective branding on the front and back keep you visible to oncoming traffic in the middle of the night.

    Good Pants

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:Runs large
    • Size Bought: medium

I didn't want tights, so here ya go. They have been great in 30 and 20 degree weather. They would be too warm for the 40s and above. I like that they're athletic but not tight, feel more like thin and snug soccer warm-ups. The leg is very long though; I'm a 33X32, and I got the medium because I have skier thighs. The ankles bunch up just a little bit. Other than that, I'm very happy.

    Wish They Had Lengths

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I've got 4 pairs of Salomon trail shorts and a jacket that I love and have been looking for another pair of pants since Under Armour discontinued the ones I like.

The material and overall fit on these is wonderful; soft, stretchy, slim but not tight, and not overly thick to prevent overheating. The only problem is I've got short legs (30" inseam), and these pants come to the middle of my foot. I don't like having fabric bunched above my shoes when I run, so I'll be looking elsewhere.

    Just right

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

Nothing fancy about these pants, but they get everything just right. They're not too tight (not tights!), and they're not too loose (extra material flapping around). They're not windproof, so not amazingly warm, but conversely they are obviously much more breathable and stretchy than any windproof running pants. I wore them yesterday when temperature was 20 F, and they were fine. Any colder, and I might have opted to wear another layer underneath.

In casual pants I usually wear a 31" waist, 32" inseam, and the 'Small' size worked great: lots of stretch in the waist, and good length, with room to layer underneath. If you're in doubt between two sizes, I'd suggest you opt for the smaller size.

    Just the right fit

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

As the product description states, these are close fitting but without the tightness. The tapered ankles do an excellent job of keeping the wind from blowing up the pant (an issue I had with another manufacturers pant). The zippered pockets are great for carrying a key or an ID. I wore these on a run this morning in 38 deg weather and they were perfect. Very satisfied.

Any ideas how cold these are designed for? Looking for something for single digits/teens.
