great hiking pants/shorts. the zipper did not rub my legs, they are light-weight and cool to wear on long hikes on hot days. it is important though to size up, i find Salamon gear has smaller sizes then American sizes. i am also tall 5'10 and these are the size 12 was great length, i normally have problems with long pants revealing to much ankle!! and the shorts are a comfortable length too.

I really like these pants. So far, I have used them cross country skiing and for day hikes. I like the fabric-it is comfortable and seems tough. They wash well. Only complaint is the sizing. I normally wear a size 6 or sometimes an 8, depending on the cut and company (29 in jeans). I have fairly straight hips (more of a boycut shape)but still have some 'junk in my trunk'. I ordered a pair in size 6 and they were tiny! The waist was really small and I had to pull them way up past my belly button for them to fit. So I exchanged them for an 8 and the 8's are quite big. They are a little big in the waist and they are long crotched. It seems as though the company has a little issue with sizing. I had to choose between too tight or too big. Pants that fit well are always hard to find. Perhaps they would better fit someone with a curvy figure. These are great unless you hate high riding pants and choosing between a too-tight-on-your-butt-and-thighs or long crotches. Still worth a try!
