- Q & A
Better for light impact use
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 9
Wore only once for hiking/canyoneering. Lace cinching closure closuring broke on one shoe two hours in canyon with another hour to go (after using proper formal hiking shoes for approach hike to canyon and switching to these for canyon).
Better suited for light use without much support needed, such as seated kayaking and mild hiking.
tech amphib 3
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
this model is NOT the quality and fit of the tech amphib 2. NO removable footbed to clean out sand/debris and drying. gimmicky laces that are waaay to long and do NOT assist in holding the tongue in place. the tech amphib 3 is only acceptable if you don't know any better.
Love these shoes
This is my second pair of these shoes and I love them. They're not athletic shoes for a gym workout, but they're great for doing anything outdoors three seasons a year, and the convertible back is the feature that sets them apart from other similar models. They're comfortable in hot weather as the mesh is so airy. They can get wet and dry quickly, and they can be slip-ons to run outside, or tighten them on all the way with the single-handed pull and they're good for a hike! I wore the first pair out after about 3 years and am thrilled to have another pair.
Best River Shoe Ever!
I've had a pair of these shoes for years. They have survived multiple Grand Canyon trips, and tons of river time. They are the perfect combo for being in the water and on long hikes. They have good sticky rubber for slick rocks and boats. Mine finally wore out so I will be purchasing another pair.
Best summer sports shoe
This is a great summer sports shoe...you can hike, bike, swim in rocky bottom lakes and rivers, river raft and even wade in the ocean with these shoes. I had them for 3 years and I think they would have lasted way longer but my dog chewed up the first pair so I'm purchasing my second pair!
I had a pair of original techamphibians....
I had a pair of original techamphibians. I LOVED them... purchased the Techamphibian 2 and HATE them... they seem to sqeeze my instep in the wrong place, come up higher on the sides of my foot and the heel strap continually loosens every 2-3 strides... my husband gets very annoyed at me having to stop constantly to tighten up the heel strap again... when the shoe is off and i tighten then pull against it, it releases right away. I can't stand these shoes so have been wearing the originals waay beyond their lifespan.. I need new ones... are these glitches sorted out in the new Techamphibian 3? I like that they offer cover for walking in the bush and that the heel can be flipped down - handy around the campsite.. please help!
will salomon return to making the womens...
will salomon return to making the womens tech amphib 2 ? its spawn, the tech amphib 3, is the low-rent, sleazy cousin and not acceptable for serious paddlers.
I don't think they are going to get back into making the past season model but I bet Salomon would love to hear your input on the 3's so that they don't make the same mistakes they did when they come out with the next model in the line. You can hit them up at 1.800.875.2619
Do these run large like other salomons...
Do these run large like other salomons tend to do, or are they more true to size?
Based off of reviews from other websites, this shoe seems to run about a half size to large. Hope this helps.
are they any good for water aerobics? Offer...
are they any good for water aerobics? Offer support? good padding for shock absorption underfoot?
Hey Phoebe, thanks for your question!
These Solomon shoes do have a foam EVA footbed, so they will absorb shock nicely and provide support. I would actually suggest finding something with perhaps less fabric so they dry more quickly for you. Chacos might be a great alternative to investigate. They have far less material, but the footbeds are awesome, and the arch support is some of the best you will find among sandals.

I would recommend a Chaco with a heel strap, to ensure it stays in place while you are moving around in the water.
Or perhaps a pair of KEENs, which are also excellent water shoes with decent support.
