Lightweight, waterproof mid-height hiking boot for year-round fast hiking.
Salomon designed its Women's Synapse Mid CS W+ Hiking Boot so you can quickly cover ground on slightly steep, rocky, muddy, wet, and dry trails. Its women-specific design means the shoe has a thinner and sleeker
bottom unit, more support on the internal side, and a seamless Sensifit
lining that cradles your foot in order to provide a more feminine fit. Its non-marking Contagrip sole utilizes a high abrasion-resistant rubber compound with staggered lugs and an all-terrain grip so you have confident and dynamic traction on any surface despite how bumpy or slippery it is. Included in the sole is the OS Tendon, which is an elastic material that connects the forefoot to the rearfoot in order to absorb and return energy on toe-off in order to encourage your stride and improve endurance. The lining wraps entirely around the foot for a 360° fit that offers a more precise placement when you step over logs. The Ortholite footbed adds to the comfort of this boot by creating a cool, dry, and healthy cushioned sockliner for your foot. Its EVA midsole includes an OS Muscle (extra large EVA cushioning) to prevent fatigue on longer hikes.
The Synapse also has enough protective features to ensure comfort, dryness, and stability at a light weight. First of all, the combination of the water resistant textile, waterproof bootie
construction, and a Climashield Waterproof membrane ensures your foot
remains dry after you step into puddles and streams. The mid-style cuff provides more ankle support than a low-cuff hiker without the full height, stiffness, and weight of a backpacking boot. Its protective rubber toe cap prevents you from stubbing your toe, the gusseted tongue keeps debris out of your boot, and the Quicklace sysetm lets you tighten it all up around your foot with one quick pull.

Comfy and Stylish
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
At first I was just looking for a pair of lighter weight, semi water proof, decent colored shoes with mid-ankle protection anteriorly. I ordered mine online and really didn't know what to expect when it comes to comfort. When I received mine, I started wearing it to stores to "break them in", and found out they really don't need much of breaking in (super comfy after the first 2 short runs to stores). And they are super stylish too either with boot cut jeans, skinny pants, or skirts with leggings and knee height socks! Oh yeah and they are have good grips too, for hiking, running, whatever. Already had wore them to 3 hikes (and also wear them a crapload on normal days). I've stepped over couple of inches thick water with them and they don't get wet inside. Recommended.
