Description

Run your hike.

Glide over steep, rocky hikes while your foot naturally rolls through each step thanks to the unique sole design of the Salomon Women's Synapse Hiking Shoe. Lively materials soak up rocky terrain and help you rebound out of each step so you move faster than ever on your hikes. Salomon gave this shoe a shape that allows your foot to roll from heel to toe without interruption just like it should. Heel cushioning and a protective toe cap provide plenty of protection from shark-fin rocks on Utah singletrack or the granite boulders of the east.
  • Heel foam coupled with powerful OS Muscle material directly underfoot allows the foot to naturally and efficiently roll through each step in rough terrain
  • Contagrip for lightweight traction and durability on rocky and uneven surfaces
  • OS tendon provides increased heel-to-toe transition for improved take-off
  • Die-cut Ortholite EVA sock liner provides extra cushion and maximum comfort
  • Molded EVA midsole provides extra stability and more comfort for your endeavors
  • Quick-lace system with SensiFit disperses pressure across your foot evenly to prevent rubbing or hot-spots
  • Textile uppers allow air to pass through freely so your feet stay cool in hot weather
  • Women-specific last supports your foot

Are these more like the red and black first main picture, or the gray and pink detailed pictures? the colors look totally different!

Actually, both colors are correct. The pink and grey detail shots are from a now-discontinued color, and what's currently in stock is the black/red (or the purple/orange, obviously). If you order the black and red, it'll look black and red.

I have always loved Salomon hiking shoes. My last Goretex Salomon boots were so comfortable and durable (lasted 7 years, over 300 miles backpacked). This time, I went with the ankle fit. I am new to the quick lace system, so far I like it, it's easy to tighten and loosen your lace on the trail. These are very comfortable as well. I had ACL surgery in March and have been wearing these to physical therapy as well, they cushioned better than Nike Air, especially on the heels. Good tractions, took them to Moab on a rainy weekend in 1st week of May, and handled the wet slick rocks at ease. I have not lost grips on these yet. I bought the purple color, it is true to the picture, the color pops out well on the trails, it's nice to wear something colorful and yet comfortable hiking shoes! No more earth tone boots!

I usually wear a 6.5 in Salomons, but needed to go down to a 6 in these. Also, the weight stated in "tech specs" for the pair is really the weight of one shoe. They seem like nice enough shoes, but were too wide for my narrow feet. Significantly wider/higher volume than the Salomon Speed Cross, which I love.

I have had these shoes just under one day, but they were phenomenal out of the box. They are so comfortable that they literally feel like I am walking on clouds. I was worried that the 9 I ordered would run small, I have a tendency to have my toes pinched a little but they are fabulous. They fit perfectly, my toes are not squished and I have plenty of room without them feeling heavy. A little pricey for my usual shoe-spending, but they fit so well and feel so comfortable, I am okay with it. Worth. Every. Penny. I got the purple, so they are a little wild, but love it. I'm sure the elements won't keep them purple for very long, but I can't WAIT to get out there in them!

I have the Synapse in both the gray and the blue. Salomons are my preferred hiking shoe and these are now my favorite. The Salomon Synapse was worn when the thru hiking record for the Appalachian trail was broken. The toe box is a little wider than the Salomon crossmax trail runners since they are made for fast hiking (or leisurely hiking) and this prevents my toes from feeling squashed. The shoes are lightweight. comfortable and supportive. The traction is very good, in fact it has greater traction than the current line of Salomon low hikers such as the Tiana (I also own) and Exit models.
My significant other has the men's Synapse in the greenish color and he loves them. He tried other low hiking shoes at local stores and none were as comfortable as his old Salomons so he ordered the Synapse as well. Many people have given up both compliments on our shoes since they are generally not sold locally they are unique and stylish.
I can color coordinate my Salomons to my outfit. I use the Synapse typically only for hiking and
I admit I have a Salomon fetish. I love Salomons owning the Salomon crossmax neutral in every color they make for women and other Salomons.
I highly recommend the Salomon Synapse low and I hope Salomon continues to make them for years to come.
