You really don't want your ski popping off when you're 20 feet off the deck, lining up a cliff, or mobbing down the hill at face-melting speeds, which is why the Salomon STH 12 Oversize Ski Binding is a hit with aggressive riders who are looking for a durable binding with solid retention and release capabilities. With a DIN that starts as low as 4 and goes up to 12, the STH 12 is suitable for park, frontside, and all-mountain riding. The low-profile chassis is designed to work with wide skis, and the automatic toe height with wing adjustments help take the hassle out of getting your clamps dialed in. The wide XL stomp pedal helps provide plenty of power transmission from boot to ski, and the low 17mm stack height keeps you close to the snow, so you don't feel like you're tottering around on stilts when you're trying to surf through pow or spin like a top in the park.

A No Frills Workhorse

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The perfect binding is the one you forget about. I’ve put the Solomon STH 12 through four seasons of abuse, and while it looks far from new it functions like the day they were mounted. The DIN adjustment is about as easy as you can get just a few turns with a flat head and the indicator shows you exactly what DIN you’re at. Engagement is solid and the release lever is easy to find and push with a pole. I trust these bindings to keep my skis attached when I want, and to release when I need them to.
