Wear the Salomon Men's Kaos Ski Boot to unleash anarchy on the pipe and park. Salomon gave the Kaos their Freestyle Spaceframe construction for super light weight, and a progressive two-buckle design that makes this park and pipe boot feel like an extension of your foot. A roomy toe box increases comfort, reduces black-nail landings, and allows free toe motion for making minute balance changes when sliding rails. Faux fur on the liner adds steeze, while thermo-moldable tongue and ankle regions create a custom fit. To customize the Kaos' 100-index flex, simply remove the flex rivets on the tongue and get low.
Bottom Line: If your boots are holding you back, buckle into the Salomon Kaos.
This boot has a great flex. Being more of a park boot, these have a great flex to reduce shin bang. I use this boot for everything, and they can charge with the best of them. Overall a great boot for park/pow riding.
I would go with 28.5 that is Wat I have it's a little big on me but this boot is so nice that it will form to ur foot. It has so much padding it is the most cumfy boot I have ever had

Took these to Squaw Valley last week. First time out with them I took them up KT-22. Probably not the best idea to get a feel for them but they were perfect. Skied 3.5 days with them there and never once had problems. Very comfortable and warm. Held up well in downhill and park. With the ease of getting in and out and the two buckle system I could not ask for more.
Working with Salomon, I'd like to insist on a feature which isn't that much highlighted here, which is the anti black nail toe box. Working closely with our riders, we notices that some of them had black nail issues after multiple landings. With them, we developed this cushioned toe box integrated in the boot in the areas of the big toe to cushion the landings. It reduced a lot the black nail effect and the pain. It's been the main evolution between 08 and 09/10, and a great benefit!
I have been looking for a new pair of ski boots for a while. I need a wider boot. I know the spk's are both wide and comfortable. I am thinking about the 104 mm spk kaos or 105 mm spk pro boots. Styling aside, what's the difference? These boots will be used for all around mountain. Which is a better wide comfortable boot for all around use?
I really like these boots, they are really easy to put up because of the two buckle system and you can get them on and off within seconds. They are pretty comfortable and have a nice all-mountain flex. They also look very cool. My one complaint on these boots is that the bottom buckle hurts the bone on my foot when tightened. It didnt affect my overall rating on these boots because I think it has to do with my foot and not the boots. My foot often feels like that in other boots too.
a size 10 U.S. is roughly a size 28 - 28.5 in mondo sizing. I have worked in the ski industry for 6 years and I have sold many pairs of Kaos boots. Also a tip for you, if the a ski boot is a tad too big throw some Dr schols footbeds in the liner or if the are too small take the footbed out.(not recommended for a pair of boots that you will buy). Since your buying these boots online I would also suggest to go to a local shop and size the boots to the feet
with the whole size and the half size it is the same shell and liner. but i truly would get your son sized by a professional -- you don't want ski boots fitting like a shoe.
I would whole-heatedly suggest you take your son to a reputable nearby ski shop (if there is one) and have him fitted in boots. Ski boots can be pretty finicky when it comes to sizing.
I'd recommend checking the listings here: http://skibootfitters.com/FIND_SHOP.htm, find a shop near you, and take your son.
I know that doesn't really answer your question, so here's the answer- Size 10 = 28 and 10.5 = 28.5. On the bright side, backcountry has a great return policy, so if the boots don't fit you can always exchange them.
That chart is wrong. My boots are a 23 and the BSL is 274. Some other 23/23.5 shells are 277mm. My size 24 salomons are 285mm. Some size 24s are 286 or 287mm. Size 25 is usually around 294-296.
I ended up returning this product. I ordered this boot not because it was park and pipe boot but because it had a wide last. Unfortunately while the boot was roomy, it was WAY too tight around my calf. I could not even clasp the first rung on the upper buckle.
not saying they werent too tight for you, but dont forget that both the spoiler and the pad on the spoiler are adjustable and/or removable to accomodate different size calves
to complete Shane's comment, at Salomon, liners are one of our strengths and we put a lot of attention not only on instant step in comfort but on a durable comfort. We use high qualitative foams with high resilience caracteristics (resilience is the capability a material has to come back to its original shape after a deformation). All these above features prevent our liners to pack out. hope it helps you. Enjoy the winter
