Not good enough

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had these for about five years, tried and tested in a variety of conditions - bound to freeze if the temperatures vary, but unfortunately I've had them freeze in -28 (C) when there was absolutely no wet snow around, and that was seriously uncool. I couldn't fit the entire ski in my tent to heat it up enough to free the shoes, so my shoes was attached to my skis for five days. Needless to say, my feet were freezing the entire trip. I Changed to manual bindings as soon as i got home, and have never had any problems with those. If you're dependant on your gear, go manual. for daytrips, these are fine.

Works great, but some small issues

Pretty good BC binding for off-track adventures. I tend to put in 3-6 hour days in the backcountry near Vail, CO. The binding excels 95% of the time. Issue I run into is when I push through deep snow for a long period of time. The binding tends to pack with snow. The result? I can't get my boot out. The snow freezes inside the release not allow the release to be fully pushed down to release the boot. It's only happened a few times....in snow a varying temps. Overall, it works as advertised.

UPDATE: I am returning these. I've skied them about 10 times since Nov 2013 - Dec 7 2013. They have iced up 8 times to where I can't get my boot out. Conditions have been perfect as well....temps ranging from 8F-20F....and shin deep powder. The binding work great otherwise! Get the manual SNS XA!
