Description

Salomon's SNS Pilot Equipe Skate Binding—for athletes and top racers on the hunt for speed.

With a long line of World Championship gold medals behind its name to back up its reputation, the Salomon Pilot Equipe Skate Binding gives skate skiers full edge power and control. This double-axis binding transmits the highest percentage of energy possible to the ski and an instantaneous power return at the end of your kick. The Pilot Equipe binding utilizes the SNS Pilot system with a secondary mobile axis under the tip, a continuous and progressive guide ridge under the whole boot, and a rotation axis under the tip of the boot. All of this gives you the torsion control and steady ski steering you need to push your old limits.

  • Universal mounting allows you to mount this binding to either a SNS/NIS interface plate, which allows the use of the bvinding on NIS-equipped skis, or directly onto the topsheet of a flat ski
  • An Atomic SNS binding can also be mounted onto a Wedge Plate which provides a 5mm underfoot lift. This underfoot lift gives you more room to fully angle your ski on edge when skating and it improves ski control and glide-through acceleration.

Will these bindings work with Salomon...

Will these bindings work with Salomon Escape 7 Pilot boots?

Most of my cross country skiing is classic style. Other than the higher cost, would there be any disadvantage to use these bindings for both skate and classic skiing?

Thank you.

The binding will technically work with the Escape 7 Pilot, but it won't work "right". The skate binding has a stiffer flex than the classic. This will inhibit correct classic technique and keep you from getting the grip section of the ski to engage the snow.

I'm looking to buy Nordic skate equipement. Should I go with NNN on NIS or with SNS ? and why?Is SNS adustable forward and back?
The skis; what size should I get, I'm 5'8" (172cm) , 165 (75kg) , beg-interm. ? and will your at it, do you recommand a specific ski?

Bindings: Find the boot that fits your foot first, then get the binding that matches. There are differences in the binding systems and the SNS is a bit more stable with 2 connection points to the ski, but the most important factor is getting a good boot fit.
Skis: Buy the best model you can afford. You will only thank yourself later. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for length. At 75kg, you will likely be around a 190cm depending on the company.

i really hate this binding. everyone else on here seem to like it, and i can see why some people like it but at a race today during the start my friend, who has these bindings ski popped off since he was right in front of me when he fell a got my skis caught up in his and i well also. i had great difficulty getting past the pack but managed to get a 16th place finish. if this little incident didn't happen i could of done much better. i wasn't the only one pissed my friend was a little upset to knowing that he could have done much better

How do you know that they weren't mounted improperly and that the binding itself was not to blame?

Reliable, easy to use, durable, and easy to mount! These are the best bindings out there. I have 5 pair (they are on all my skis and I have an extra just in case.) You can't go wrong with these. The pilot system really controls the tips of your skis so if you are skiing in 1-2 inches of fresh on top of the corduroy you'll still be in control. Nice subdued colors don't take away from the graphics of your favorite sticks either.

We've got a pair of Salomon bindings that are almost identical to these. I'd like to remove them without ruining. Does anyone have installation instructions so I can find out how to get to all the screws? Thanks

Mine are slightly older than the one pictured and this is what I did to get it off:Use a large flat screwdriver to push the clip (the part the boot locks into) forward/open. This will relieve the pressure on the boot release button. Use a second large flat screwdriver to pry the button off of the binding. Be gentle. Use a Phillips #3 to remove the three screws that hold the toe piece.

You should use a Pozi-drive screwdriver when you work with ski bindings as that is what the screws are designed for.

These are great bindings. They're very solid, no lateral movement, no squeeking and feel solid both clipping in and out. I've been skiing with these bindings for almost 5 years now and I'll keep with what works the best. To top it off Backcountry.com has the best service in the business, and on the planet!.... No Joke!
