Bluebird January morning to slushy March afternoons, the Salomon Men's Snowtrip Softshell II 3-in-1 Jacket gets the job done. The highly breathable climaPRO Softshell outer jacket resists wetness and features air-permeable side panels to help regulate your temperature. On the inside, you’ll find a lightweight softshell liner that adds extra insulation and gives you an option for days around town. A removable hood lets you mix things up, and a chamois wipe helps you clear off your goggles after each lap in the deeps.

Bottom Line: All-winter softshell.

Original Snowtrip

By:
September 30, 2009

I've picked up the original snowtrip jacket last summer, and it was my go-to jacket all winter long. Living in northern Wisconsin gets pretty cold, yet with a couple good layers underneath this jacket held up to the coldest days on the hills. The lowest temp I've taken it out in has been -36 F without windchill. It has been waterproof as far as I have taken it, from snow boarding to biking to class in the rain. I am 6'1" and 165, and the cut is perfect with a large but the shoulder width is a bit tight. I only give it a 4/5 because it's not the warmest jacket I own (which goes to the North Face Plasma Thermal), and it's a little heavy if you are going to do anything technical with it. For around town and on the slopes though it's been a great jacket.

I have either this or the original SnowTrip. I lost my liner, so I am looking to pick up another one and interchange the liner with my old one. Anyway to figure out which one I have? I'd appreciate any help!!
Thanks

This Jacket Owns...

By:
February 10, 2009

I switched from Helly Hansen this season to Salomon, and I really notice the difference. Salomon is known for their edge on quality and their clothing is no exception. The Snowtrip keeps you warm dry and ready to attack any thing on those minus degree temperature days and gets rid of the heat on those sunny groomer days... All around GREAT! 3 coats in 1...

--------------------------G, I've owned this jacket for the past 3 years. It's my go to jacket for snowboarding and around town. It'll keep you dry in a blizzard. The ClimaPro is awesome. Probably would not recommend it for raingear, but I was on my butt for most of last season when I first started to snowboard. Never got cold or wet. I have longer arms too 35" and the large jacket fits me fine. Also, I can't tell you how many times the liner fleece has come in handy when your significant other forgets to dress for the occasion. My only gripe is that the snap-ins for the inside fleec on the sleeves are weak...they're just buttons sewn to the outer jacket on a slim piece of cloth so the cloth tears if you forget to unbutton your inner fleece before you remove it. nothing to do w/ performance. Too big of a jacket to throw a raincoat over, imo.*I completely deleted Spencer's contribution. I'm sorry, Spence!

Got it cheap

By:
January 4, 2009

Picked up one of these jacket real cheap. This is not one of the nicest jackets i've ever owned but not one of the worst jackets i've owned. I mostly wear the jacket with the liner around town and to class during the winter months. With the liner in the jacket is extremely warm. It has kept me warm walking to class(1 mile) in 0-10 degree weather. As far as waterproofness this thing has not failed on me yet.

This jacket is rated 10K for waterproofing and breathabilty. It's kept me warm in temperatures near zero and kept me dry in fairly heavy rain. I like the fit a lot as well.

Snaps to both sleeves as well as at the base of the neck to make sure liner stays put.
