Fat, fast, and strong, the Salomon Sandstorm Alpine Ski is ready to blitz the entire mountain. The Sandstorm Alpine Ski's fatty waist gives you plenty of platform for bottomless float in the pow and ripping through crud. This Salomon ski's big sidecut makes the wide waist more than manageable on hard snow, so you can tear down the corduroy for a run if you get bored with the powder. The Sandstorm's double-wall construction provides long-term durability and insurance when you take on gnarlier, exposed lines. Salomon's Spaceframe construction uses the ski's outer skin as a structural component for amazing strength and torsional rigidity without the weight. Inside, a light and responsive Isocell Complex foam core dampens unwanted vibration without making the ski feel dead under your foot.

Bottom Line: Scour the face of the mountain with the Salomon XW Sandstorm Alpine Ski.

XW Sand

Floats nicley in the pow, great on busting throught the crud. Takes some muscle on the hard groomed runs for turns. Im 5'11 210 and didnt have much problem with the 173's.

That this ski also kicks butt on moguls? I do not own a pair, but my ski buddy bought a pair out west - we live in the east, and this year (07/08) we have had loads of snow - to our amazement, the Sandstorm not only rules in the powder, but you can also crank out mogul runs with wild abandon.

Great Powder Ski

By:

This ski is very solid and quick turning in soft conditions. Tremendous in bumpy powder and tight trees. Even on windblown it was cutting through it with ease. A little chattery on hardpack but then again, it's a powder ski. I'm on the 173s and I would recommend going to the 187 unless you're a bump hound. I was surprised to find a fat ski this responsive.
