S-Lab XA Alpine 2 Trail Running Shoe

Ridge runs are no walk on the treadmill. Not only are the trails sometimes non-existent, but you're bound to run through mud, rocky debris, and a mixture of the two. Salomon's S-Lab XA Alpine 2 Trail Running Shoe is essentially a lightweight, speed-oriented runner with a highly protective gaiter to block out all the nonsense getting in the way between you and a hearty workout.

The shoe's upper features the same Sensifit and Endofit technologies that give Salomon's footwear such a slim, streamlined, speedy, and absolutely secure fit that feels custom to your foot. Salomon also added a Carbon Chassis at the heel to solidify the fit and ensure the stability required for alpine terrain. Underfoot, three layers of EVA foam cradle your foot in soft cushioning, and they rebound any shocks from protruding pebbles for a comfier run. Contagrip's rubber sole comes in a Premium Wet Traction compound for better traction over slipperier surfaces.

One of my favorite shoes

I just purchased another pair because these are on sale and it seems Salomon is discontinuing them from their lineup. Which is a shame. I used these in Europe all over the Alps. They were basically my go to shoe for the days when I didn't really know what to expect when I was going to the different places I was hiking and scrambling to. Sometimes I was crossing glaciers, sometimes I was caught in the rain, they allowed me to move quickly with how light they are, yet they kept my feet dry with no problems. They are the shoe that I would recommend for anyone traveling to the Alps, or for adventures locally. I use them on the Grouse Grind when I am in Vancouver BC when there is still snow on the trail, snow shoe running, etc etc. I was even using them for walking the dog during our last snow we got in Seattle, when I was getting tired of wearing clunky boots. I love them as an adventure shoe, I hope Salomon will be coming out with a newer version in the future. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with owning a pair. In fact, it might disappoint you too if Salomon never brings them back into their lineup.
