S-Lab Skate SG Ski

Skating is tough enough, but when you're on a soft, chopped-up track, it's like trying to high-step through mashed potatoes with flippers on your feet. To make your life a little easier, Salomon offers the S-Lab Skate SG, a World-Cup-ready ski designed expressly for soft snow conditions. It features the same Skating Power distribution camber as the other S-Lab skate skis, but is designed with increased torsional stiffness throughout the ski to keep you powering forward and not floundering in the mush. This is accomplished by way of a stiff Nomex core, wrapped with carbon and fiberglass and sandwiched between wood sidewalls to keep the ski light and snappy. There's also a carbon laminate running the length of the ski to add stiffness, keeping as much of the ski off the ground as possible, which increases glide, kick, and acceleration.

Digital Grinding Measurement, which is the system Salomon uses to ensure a fine, specific base grind, may sound abstract, but it's a vital ingredient in the recipe that makes that Skate SG shoot forward like an electrocuted snake. Thanks to digital system, Salomon is able to carefully engineer the base structure on their ski to ensure maximum speed and wax retention, using their World Cup Universal Grind. The grind is different on soft snow and hard snow skis to better take advantage of snow structures that vary as temperatures do. A skating race sidecut ensures that the ski tracks effortlessly, so you don't waste energy trying to keep everything moving in a straight line, and Salomon even included a protective foil covering on top of their factory wax, so all you need to do before getting outside is peel off the foil and brush your new toys down.
