Rocker Ski

Like an 80's hair-band frontman or a ruthlessly ambitious Cuban immigrant named Tony, the Salomon Rocker is uniquely suited to a single purpose: blowing through mountains of powder. Not for the weak or those seeking an all-mountain single-ski quiver, the Rocker is big, straight, stiff, and - you guessed it - massively rockered at the tip. Mind-blowingly epic in steep, untouched pow, it gets more nimble the faster you go, while the swallowtail cutout acts like a rudder to keep you stable at speed (and virtually guarantees you won't try skiing switch). At slow speeds, on groomers, in bumps, or on hardpack, it's a handful...but that's not why you want it, is it?

  • Edgy Monocoque construction for strength and exceptional edge hold
  • Full wood core for stable, predictable performance at any speed
  • Total Edge Reinforcement adds a layer of fiberglass directly on the edges for durability
  • Huge 720mm Tip Rocker aids flotation and prevents deflection in variable, choppy snow

Bottom Line: Say hello to my little friend.

Don't be afraid

Don't be afraid of this ski unless you are completely unable to push on the fronts of your boots. I ski this ski around 70% of my days at Snowbird & Alta. It is highly maneuverable because it has so much tip rocker. It has standard camber underfoot-to-tail so when speed and stability are needed, you won't have any squirreliness or a tail that wants to squirt out on you. So basically this is not a backcountry jib ski, its a powder/crud/funk destroyer and big mountain super ski. You will be able to ski better than you ever imagined, just don't be in the backseat unless your ready to haul ass.

skied it against the Atomic Atlas the other day. Atlas is a great ski, but heavier and harder to turn than the Rocker in soft snow. Atlas does have more side cut so its make shorter radius turns on groomers.

I have heard about a new salomon rocker 2 ski. Has anyone tried

I have heard about a new salomon rocker 2 ski. Has anyone tried those out? they look really cool. How would that compare to the k2 obsethed, armada jj, or rossingnol s7?

Thanks, please reply!

I have been skiing the Rocker2s a lot this year and it is super fun/amazing. Coincidentally I tested it against the jj and s7 yesterday. It skis closer to the jj but with smoother characteristics. It's hard to explain exactly why I like it better... part shape, weight, stiffness. I have been skiing the 184 which for me (5'11" 165) is damn near perfect resort pow ski (Alta/Snowbird). I'm anticipating the 192 to take over as my big mountain/deep pow ski (although I LOVE the Rocker). Hope that makes sense;)

This is a different ski than the one being sold here. The Rocker2 (featured in the video) is an early-release 11-12 ski with tip and tail rocker.

I LOVE these skis they ROCK! Great for big pow days and they like to charge hard. That my lingo for very stable, easy to control at fast or slow speeds. If you like to lap your friends to get more fresh lines then the Salomon Rocker ski is for you. The rocker tip will keep you on top of the pow or smoo. The stiff tail will give you stability at any speed.
