Rocker Ski

Salomon designed the Rocker for one thing—flotation. This powder ski's rocker design and massive dimensions mean you can't help but plane on top of soft snow. Double-wall monocoque construction not only makes the Rocker burly, but transfers power to the edge when you hit bottom in steep terrain. Although it's built for cold-smoke powder, this fat, floaty ski's full wood core gives you the power to bust through gnarly crud too. Although we wouldn't exactly recommend these skis for hard snow, the Rocker's traditional sidecut gives you enough control to make it down the cat track for another powder lap.

Bottom Line: What could make a bottomless powder day better? The Salomon Rocker Ski.

just wanted to add something

I just wanted to add to my review. you gotta ski these boards with you weight forward, you should only lean back when you wanna haul-ass and make long turns. when I first got on 'em i wanted to lean back at the end of the turn and push the tail into the pow, but that doesn't really work with these. they turn SOOO easy when your shins are pushing on the tongues of your boots.

I have a pair of '08 Salomon Rockers that I am going to mount

I have a pair of '08 Salomon Rockers that I am going to mount with tele bindings. Where should I mount them? On a regular camber ski I mount 3cm+/- back of center.

There is a scribed line that appears to be at the center of the running length. Is that suposed to be boot center? With the rocker tip it seems a bit far back. I am inclinde to mount the tele bindings either on boot center or 3cm+/- forward.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much apreciated.

So how did you finally mount your rockers ?
I'm gonna mount mine with G3 Targas (x-mountain), and can't sort out where to mount them....

Thanks,
Benoît.

My friend recommended mounting them boot center on the line. be sure to measure them though as the lines can be slightly off.

Yes the line on the ski in for boot center. I have a buddy that Teles on the Rocker, so I will check with him to see where he prefers to mount them. I think it is a couple cm in front of the line, but I'll check.

love it

definitly love it. you can milk every last pow turn without wallowing out in the flats. nothing will get you through funky snow conditions like a rocker. I really like that the tail is not reverse cambered to, i hate not having a tail to press on when i need it. its a lot of ski but also incredibly manueverable.

What is the swallow tail for? How do you remove it?

i think thats a mistake in the description. there is a small notch/swallow tail but the larger portion is not removable, at least I've never heard of anyone removing it. The swallow tail is a way to help the tail sink in the pow and therefore point the tip around and help turn the ski. In adition to the swallow these bad boys have reverse camber or "rocker", which allows the ski to turn more easily then EVER before. I've got a full season on the rocker and love them! You cannot remove the swallow tail.

Get them, Awesome skis

These skis are amazing in powder. Just about impossible to bury a tip. Float like you wouldn't believe, and turn easy as can be in powder. There pretty easy to ski too. Had them for 3 feet at snowbird and it was the best powder ride I've ever had, as well as the 2 weeks straight of powder there. Good on a few day old packed powder as well. My legs stayed fresh much longer using these than on my Guns(101mm underfoot) so you can ski longer. Its also kinda cool to hear people in line asking what the swallow tails for. Only drawback is the price, but their worth it.
