Rock on.

Salomon's 127mm-underfoot, pow-hungry Rocker Ski is back for its third season--evidence that its big early-rise rocker tip and flat tail shape has gone from pioneer, to icon. Not for the weak or those seeking an all-mountain single-ski quiver, the Rocker is big, straight, stiff, and - you guessed it - massively rockered at the tip. Mind-blowingly nimble and slarvy in steep, untouched pow, the Rocker gets more agile the faster you go, while the swallowtail cutout acts like a rudder to keep you stable at speed (and virtually guarantees you won't try skiing switch). The Rocker is the only friend you need on a pow day.
  • Early-rise tip rocker floats above pow and variable snow, and improves turn initiation in deep pow. Also eliminates hooking and tip drag in deep snow.
  • Full Wood Core offers crud-busting stability and an oh-so-smooth flex pattern.
  • Cap construction, Salomon's Edgy Monocoque construction, keeps the Rocker stable underfoot, but lightweight and manageable in the tips and tail.

Skiied on these for two years after being slightly scared to try them on hard pack of their water ski size. No need to worry, as it turns out. Crushes the deep and light, the Cascade concrete, the Pend Oreille premix, the chop, pillows, crud and every other condition in which float and stability matter. Shockingly nimble in loose snow, but not nimble enough for tight bumps. Trenches the hard pack on the way back to the chair (just don't look at the flapping tips). Made slush surfing fun.

What is the weight?

Not lightweight with Marker Dukes. Haven't weighed them, but they'll put a dent in your shoulder.

These things are a beast. They love speed and going straight. With the huge rockered tip, though, I found they could pivot much better than expected. Not as playful as I would like for an everyday pow ski, but they know their business, and business is good.

when the deep gets really deep, this ski will give you super powers. Bigger dudes will like this for hard charging. I am on the Rocker2 now most of the time but I'll still pull these out once in a while and still love them.
