Don't crush little Timmy's dreams of being a pro skier by telling him that the guys he sees in movies are actually just a bunch of dudes who eat scavenged pizza crusts and live out of their cars. Let him dream, and let him learn to rip like his heroes with the Salomon Rocker 2 JR, a scaled-down version of the ski he's seen in his favorite shred flicks. Like its big brother, the JR has a full twin rocker that floats through powder and over uneven snow, able to pivot on a dime in tight spaces and lay down an edge when it needs to. It's light enough for shortstack rippers thanks to a wood core and semi-sandwich construction that combine to create a stable platform with a great swing weight, and easy on smaller legs due to an oversized elastomer PulsePad shock absorber and vibration dampener that works with the 5-point sidecut to encourage easy turn initiation and smooth, consistent turn shapes in all snow conditions. Timmy's stoke is guaranteed to lead him into low-coverage spots he'd be better off avoiding, but the Rocker 2 JR has reinforced edges that are tough enough to handle the occasional rock without requiring serious ski shop surgery.
