Salomon Malamute Snowboard Boot - Men's - 2009 BCS

I put 3 hard seasons on these before trying my hand at skiing.

These are nice and stiff, perfect for the skin track on a splitboard when edge control matters most. They also rip on the downhill, either in high alpine bowls or tight trees.

This is an excellent boot for all mountain and back country use. It is quite stiff, even when broken in, and probably shouldn't be used in the park.

The liner is good, and quite comfortable, though the ankles can start to rub weird once the boots are really broken in. The internal ankle strap is a great idea, and I'm surprised more boots don't have it; it holds my ankle down and prevents any lift, even if I run the boots a little loose. They do as good a job of keeping my toes warm as anything so far.

They're good to hike in, and the when on groomers, the have the support to really put power into the board.

My feet are low volume and slightly narrow, with skinny ankles and heels, but these boots fit well. I'd recommend buying your street shoe size in these.

I bought my 1st pair of Malamute’s in 2001, and my 2nd in 2006. I live in the mountain west and ride evey day there is new snow. My first pair remains my go-to boot for snowshoeing, while I ride in my 2nd pair.

I chose the Malamute first, because I read of 2 Iditirod mushers who wore the boot for their race. Figured if it met their demands, it would work for me. Turned out to be so true!

I pretty much point my board down the hill and - all day, in all conditions - this boot is simply the very best. Warm, responsive, stiff - but with great “feel” - and takes a real big licking and keeps on ticking.

Doubt I’ll ever wear anything but a Malamute.

These are the best boots I've worn to date. After 4 days in a row of boarding, my feet felt great. No spurs, sore ankles or toes. These are well made from sturdy material, so I'll bet they last more than 3 seasons of abuse. I'm totally satisfied and love these boots!!!

Nuff said. If you love freeride/big mountain... there's no other boot to choose from. Like many others, I rode my last pair to the ground and just ordered another pair without hesitating. Do you need to get them molded? No, they will break in themselves and be molded just right don't stick them in the oven. They will obviously be snug for the first 5 trips, especially in the heel, but they get real warm while you're riding an will be custom fit before you know it. Also, skipping the oven process prolongs the life of the boot a bit. Enjoy the performance that French have brought to footwear and pick up a pair of Malamutes asap.

I bought a pair in 05', 250 days on them. Resort-slackcountry. They havent lost a stitch and are still like new stiff. Maybe the best purchase I have ever made.

These boots are absolutely the nuts. I rode my last pair -- hard -- for 3.5 seasons and did not blink when they eventually busted and I needed a new pair. I just ordered them again. The heel cup in the new pair is kinda snug but I'm hoping that will ease up a bit.

The only issue I had with my last pair was the lacing system (prone to busting) but they've since replaced fabric eyelets with plastic ones so hopefully that won't come up again.
