The Salomon Women’s Lady Ski incorporates 210mm of tip rocker for excellent flotation and stability without sacrificing the natural carving performance of this ski’s 84-87mm waist. The Lady has a responsive and stable feel thanks to its full woodcore. Edgy monocoque construction reduces weight and excess material while providing efficient energy transfer and precise edge grip on harder surfaces. The rockered tips give the Lady great float in a variety of conditions without giving up the ski’s edging capabilities, and the semi-twin tip tail allows for switch riding while maintaining maximum contact with the snow for increased stability.

Bottom Line: Float through the pow and grip the groomers like glue on the Salomon Women’s Lady Ski.

I am an average skier, I would have considered myself an expert

I am an average skier, I would have considered myself an expert five years ago, but since have suffered a knee injury and have been in law school sitting on my ass, getting only a couple ski days a year. This year I am ready to hit the slopes on a regular basis again, and want to get back up to my previous skill level. I ski in the northwest, where there is crud, powder, bumps, and more than occasionally concrete. I have an older pair of Salomon racing skis and a pair of Armada ARVw's, and don't really like either. I need an all mountain ski, would these work for me?

you'd love them! They are very easy whatever the conditions. Good floatation with their 87 width under foot combined with the slightly rocker tip. Ski great edge to edge on groomed and thanks to an optimized contact length with the snow, you get control on hard/icy stuff. A great deal for this last year design, with no big change compared to 09/10 version (a little stiffer)

I love these skis....

By:

...but I broke my arm the first day on them (after 25 years of skiing and no injuries)! End of day...tired, marginal weather, chasing a guy half my age on a snowboard through the trees....guess I would have to say operator error. They are incredibly responsive at higher speeds, will do anything you ask, instantly, especially off-piste. They eat up bad terrain and, in my experience, do well on mogus (didn't try iced up fields.) But my problem came when I slowed down in the trees; when I came out of the trees and quickened my speed, their sudden increase in responsiveness got me. I have to agree with other reviewers that they are just not as responsive at the slower speeds. I am 5'5", 130 lbs and ski the 161's. I'm keeping the, though and will rock 'em for sure this season.

I just used my friend's daughter's skis and they were Solomon 720.
I loved them. don't know what year they are. Would these be some what the same?

These are similar, but a little more advanced than the 720 skis. They have very similar construction and flex, and if you dug the 720s, you would dig these.

Salomon Lady is the best yet

By:
February 10, 2009

This ski is absolutely everything that Salomon claims it is. I am 5'3" and 123 pounds; an aggressive, all mountain skier. I ski in northern New Mexico. I decided to go with the 153cm based on past experiences with many other skis. It was the right choice. The Lady has precise edge grip on any surface, the likes of which I haven't experienced in a long time. They are tremendous in the bumps, and are steady and smooth no matter what my speed. I could not shake them loose, and I tried. One reviewer commented that these skis were "heavy feeling at slower speeds". I have not felt anything even close to "heavy" performance at lower speeds. My hunch is that the skis in the test were too long. This is a lot of ski, and the 153s are more than enough for me. I'm aware of the "rocker" effect when considering length, but they are still a LOT OF SKI. They will carve trenches if you roll them over. The ski is responsive and even lively. It's come a long way from the earlier 1080s, which are still good skis, but cannot come close to matching the edge-hold and overall performance of these.

More over this ski has a rockered tip (210mm) which makes it easier in powder

No this ski only has a raised tail, and the Mynx has a full twin tip. Not sure if this actually replaces anything on the Salomon line, or if it is just a new ski.

Awesome

By:
March 5, 2009

These skis are awesome and excellent off-piste. I took them out to St. Anton this past week where 60cm of snow just dropped over the last 2 weeks. In the past I ve tried the K2 SweetLuv series but found them too wide, heavy and bulky for my size. I have also owned the Atomic Balanze women's ski but I found them too heavy because of the Atomic bindings - they performed better on-piste than off. At 5'3 and 118lbs, I have the 153cm and they are perfect for me. The skis are light, have a wood core (which gives them flex) and they float and turn easily on powder. They are great off-piste skis. They did just okay on the piste and not too well on hard-packed mogul runs. If you are an intermediate to advance petite skier I highly recommend them. Dont buy these if you plan to just do on-piste skiing.

Backcountry.com doesn't have a price match policy but you could get on chat and ask one of the gearheads about it, they might be able to help out. They can help you with some bindings as well since there are so many options depending on your height, weight and price range.

Steph, I am similar to you in the next pair of skis that I buy, I want to do everything on. I have found with demoing that I can make most skis work on anything, but some are more fun than others. I demo'd the Volkl Aura and K2 Missdemeanor yesterday, and thought the MDs were really fun and peppy, but the Aura's were probably better in the powder, but felt heavier and sluggish in the tight turns. I'm planning on demo'ing Salomon Lady's very soon. What did you end up deciding on?? Thanks!
