Fine all-around shoe. I use it for day hikes, easy backpacks, going to town, and for work. Comfortable, good padding, and holding up well so far. I had to return my first order and get a 1/2 smaller. Salomon W sizes seem to have changed from the last time I bought one of their shoes.

My feet are quite wide across the ball of the foot and about average in the heel. Finding shoes that fit me is hard. They're either too narrow, or end up too long, if they are wide enough. I have now bought 3 pairs of these boots. They are comfortable as anything, last well (my last pair I wore almost every day for 2 years). They're nice and light so I tend to use them for my everyday walking shoes, but they are sturdy enough for moderately strenuous hiking.
I had read some reviews that the shoe ran large. I ordered my usual shoe size. The length was great even with my orthotic insert. The design and look of the shoe was great. However, I have a slender foot, so the interior volume of the shoe was way more than I needed even with a large sock. While the heal gripped well, the rest of my foot from the arch forward was "lost in space." I knew it would be hard to feel secure while hiking in uneven terrain.
Just returned from 3 weeks in the Canadian Rockies -- most comfortable and supportive hikers I've ever owned. See, I'm clumsy - not fleet of foot, I stepped into a ground squirrel hole and fell hard. This shoe held my foot securely with lateral twisting. WOW!! I'm getting another pair soon.
Not the wonderful shoe I was expecting based on the comfort of my previous, similar Salomon shoes. The lacing system required me to make a knot after the first cross of the laces, to prevent the toe area from getting too tight when I pulled the laces tight enough over my instep. I DO have wide feet, which may be a factor here, but this has never happened before. The footbed was so thin as to be useless; the balls of my feet started burning a few minutes into a hike. Some Spenco insoles along with my prescription orthotics for arch support solved the problem. The footbeds I just tossed out. I'm having trouble keeping the shoes tight, as well. After double knotting the laces and beginning a hike, I'll need to stop at least once to tighten the lacing. I have no idea how they're coming loose with double knots. I'll probably change out the laces soon. They are, however, finally comfortable. And they have nice finger loops for pulling them on, and for attaching to my climbing harness.
I got these shoes to prepare for my hike in the Himalayas. I love the way these shoes feel. I alos feel like I get incredible lateral support from these. I would highly recommend these. I have had Salomon hiking shoes in the past and have been disappointed. But these shoes truly tell a different story.
These are excellent shoes! The outsoles are very grippy, especially in wet conditions, and they are very durable. I've owned a pair for over a year now and wear them almost every day. Even when wet, they don't get soggy and retain their shape/texture after drying. They run a bit larger than a regular women's shoe. In fact, they fit more like a men's shoe (wider in the forefoot, but still narrower in the heel). You might want to buy a 1/2 size smaller than usual unless you like a roomier shoe.
These were great for my trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands! Very comfortable and true to size. I think I even like them better than my Nikes when I work out. They are awesome!
These low hiking boots have great grip and are very comfortable. They are made for a wide foot and I think this should be stated in the product description.
Runs large, so order at least 1/2 size smaller than your typical size. Cut wide, so good for those with wide feet (even if you have wide feet, order 1/2 size down). Rubber sole provides excellent grip.
I really love these shoes. They are extremely comfortable and just like my pair of Salomon hiking boots, did not require any "breaking-in" time. Only brand of shoes I can say that for!
These Salomon shoes are very sturdy and comfortable. I have had almost the same shoes before and they lasted about 6 months of every day, very heavy use - that's two months longer than most shoes I've owned. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Best shoes ever! I am back for my third pair. Great fit and they hold up great. I wear them all of the time, they look great, many compliments, and they are so comfortable. I wear an 8 1/2 - 9 and an 8 fits perfect in these shoes. I don't just wear them for walks and hikes they are also my summer shoes for my waitress job! I wouldn't wear anything else!
