New to Salomon and loving it!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

We recently spent 2 weeks in DC, Philly, NY, Boston and a few remote areas with average daily temperatures and humidity exceeding 90 and 80% respectively. On average, we walked 12 miles each day.

Daily, I wore these shoes with high quality moisture wicking socks and was pleasantly surprised that my feet remained dry throughout.

I have also worn these during desert and alpine hikes and have always been super impressed.

In total, I have logged around 150 miles in these shoes and only recently, the cushioning has started to wear down, other than that, they have held up (including laces) wonderfully.

I agree with a previous poster in that the arch support could be better so four star rating.

Heavy Duty lightweight hiker

I carried a 60 lb pack in these, clipped them to my pack up the Exum Ridge route in Teton Nat'l Park and used these for technical downclimbing from the summit back down to camp. These are high quality, do it all hiking shoes. I also use these for roofing work in Utah 100 deg temperatures as well and they do keep your feet really cool.

Good on the trails and around town

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have been wearing these for almost a year. I bought them for casual wear. But the shoes work surprisingly well on the trail. I have (and love) the ankel support of my Quest 3d for harder treks. But Exit 2 aeros are perfectly good light hiking shoes. I actually like the old school lacing system as well and all the mesh is good for warmer weather.

The arch support could be better, so 4 starts.

    Great Shoes

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I wear these as everyday shoes as well as for light hikes and walks. Very comfortable from day 1. Sizing runs pretty much accurate. I am becoming a big fan of the Salomon shoes.

    Awesome Light Hiking Shoe

Where I work it's hot! I bought these because I knew it was going to be over 110 degrees outside. I must say, very comfortable and light. They breath great. They feel sturdy on different surfaces i.e. rock, gravel, sand. A much better shoe than I had expected. We'll see how they hold up.

I've previously used the XA Pro 3D GTX...

I've previously used the XA Pro 3D GTX Hiking Shoe, but now I'm after a non-waterproof hiking shoe for fast-packing off-trail with loads between 25-40 lbs, is this the one for me? And would it be a similar fit to the XA Pro?

Almost identical when it relates to traction and weight. Inside feels much more insulated yet breathable, it actually reminds feels much like the Merrell Moab but with a little less weight and much tighter traction on wet rocks. If you like the XA Pro GTX I would recomend giving these a shot. I use these primarily to mountain bike, but their also great for hiking and trail running. Additionally they are just like all Salomons, no breaking in neccessary, no blisters, and no twisted ankles.
