These are an amazingly comfortable pair of nordic skiing boots. They have a great flex for a full day of classic skiing, and will keep your toes warm on the coldest days.
The velcro at the top does a great job at keep your keep down, and the new SNS Pilot system gives you a lot more stability.
I've done some short hut tours with these boots too, and despite the deep snow, they were plenty stable
Great fitting boot with no break in needed
Salomon boots & shoes, whether they are Alpine, Nordic or trail running have always fit my foot very well. These boots are no exception. The lacing system is slick and very fast to adjust. I find once I put half a kilometer in that I need to tighten them a little more and then they are good for the rest of the day. It would be nice if they had a pocket for the zipper on the lace cover. Either that or have it go completely under the ankle support, but I nit pick. The flex of the boot is just right to give you control but not be fatiguing on longer trips. Used them last week when the high was 14 F with only a thin pair of icebreaker socks and they kept my toes toasty.
My binding on my cross country skis says...
My binding on my cross country skis says "SNS". How do I know what ski boots will fit it?
All cross-country ski boots will say somewhere in the description whether they are SNS, NNN, or some variation of those. Just make sure whatever binding you get the boot corresponds to it.
if your bindings are sns buy sns boots. backcountry.com says what kid of boots they are in the description.
Generally, Atomic and Salomon will be SNS, while Rossy, Fischer, and Alpina will be NNN.
Within the NNN and SNS, there's still things that won't work with each other. Backcountry touring boots will have a bigger pin, that won't fit into normal skate/classic bindings. And with SNS bindings, you can't use the OLDER Profil boots on the newer Pilot bindings, however a Pilot boot CAN be used with the old Profil bindings.
IN otherwords, this boot is backwards compatible with older SNS bindings, but not the other way around.

Will the salomon escape 7 pilot ski cf ski boot-mens fit a sns profile binding
I've read elsewhere that SNS Pilot boots will 'usually' work with SNS Profil bindings, but Profil boots won't work with Pilot bindings.
